On this Veterans Day, we honor all who have served. Today, we also recognize the unique contributions of American Indians, Alaskan Natives and Native Hawaiians in the United States armed forces. November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the histories, cultures, and resilience of Native communities. We thank Native American veterans and all veterans for their dedication and sacrifice.

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with Mullen! Enjoy a film exploring Hispanic heritage and culture. Check out stories by Hispanic writers. Read books about Hispanic-Americans’ in history. Or attend one of the many events on campus or in the greater DC community!

Kanopy has gathered a collection of films about Hispanic heritage and culture, featuring Hispanic-American actors, and by Hispanic-American filmmakers. You can find Kanopy under Databases on our website: libraries.catholic.edu

Check out Hispanic writers like Elizabeth Acevedo, Sandra Cisneros, and Juan Felipe Herrera. Learn more about Hispanic Americans’ history in books like Latinos: A biography of the people, The Latino century: How America’s largest minority is transforming democracy, or Latinos in the Washington Metro Area.

Stop by Mullen Library to see our new exhibits. The May Gallery features "Spotlight on Success: Luminary Alumni", showcasing some of The Catholic University of America’s exceptional alumni. In our lobby we have a "Voting Information" exhibit where you can pick up voter registration materials, learn important voting dates and deadlines, explore information about the upcoming elections, and find out fun historical voting facts highlighting why every vote matters!

Mullen Library will be closed on Wednesday June 19th, for Juneteenth, but you can still celebrate this important holiday by checking out some of the books in our collection. You can find books on African American history in the Mullen Library's online catalog or in the Stacks under call numbers E184.5-185.89 (non-fiction), and PS (fiction).
