Meet-a-Maine Author with Wayne’s Own Bobby Charles
Sunday Nov. 17, 3pm at the Williams House
Wayne’s own Bobby (Robert) Charles, has written another beautiful book. His first, “Eagles and Evergreens,” was about Wayne people, veterans and growing up in Wayne. This new heartwarming book entitled “Cherish America: Stories of Courage, Character, and Kindness” shares all true stories of heart, heroism and a long nod to old Maine values. Based on life experiences of his own and a close-knit circle of lifetime friends, this collection of stories is uplifting, compelling, at times gripping, and the foreword is written by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, whom the author worked with for 25 years. You’ll discover inside stories from Aldrin, but also about Colin Powell, Ronald Reagan, Walt Cunningham, Gene Cernan, Scott Hamilton, and others with whom the author has worked. The book is endorsed by People Magazine, The Washington Post, Fox News, former Maine Senator George Mitchell, and others.
Bobby grew up in Wayne, attended local schools then went on to Dartmouth, Oxford University, and Columbia University law school. He clerked on the US Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit, eventually resettling in Maine. He was a ten-year Navy intelligence officer, and served as Assistant Secretary of State to Colin Powell. He loves Maine, America, and writing.
This program will take place at Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road, across from the library. We invite you to come hear Bobby speak and purchase a book (a great Christmas gift!) Light refreshments served. All welcome.
