WEIRTON — The Weirton Board of Parks & Recreation will host its 7th Annual Bark in the Park event at Starvaggi Memorial Pool on Sunday, August 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event affords dogs and their owners the opportunity to enjoy water activities in the pool during the last day of operation for the 2026 season.

The cost is $5 per dog.

Owners must present proof of their dog’s current Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, and all other vaccinations to include current monthly administration of flea & tick and heart worm preventatives.

Dogs under six months of age will not be permitted to enter the pool. No dogs or humans with open wounds or sores of any kind will be permitted to enter the water.

Any child under the age of 16-years old must be accompanied by an adult to enter the pool with a dog. All dogs and humans must remain in the shallow end of the pool.

Owners are responsible for any and all accidents and injury to their own dog or themselves, as well as any injuries to other dogs or humans caused by their dog.

Dogs must remain leashed at all times. Dogs that are deemed aggressive will be required to leave the facility.

All owners must sign an assumption of risk and release of liability agreement for their dog to participate. All owners must pick up and properly dispose of their dog’s waste.

SMP REMAINS CLOSED DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE

WEIRTON — Starvaggi Memorial Pool will remain closed today, Monday, July 20, 2026, as work continues on a mechanical failure.

If work proceeds as planned on Monday afternoon, the pool will reopen on Tuesday, July 21 at 12 p.m.

SMP CLOSED DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE

WEIRTON — Starvaggi Memorial Pool will be closed today, Saturday, July 18, 2026, due to a mechanical failure.

Parts are unavailable until Monday morning. The pool will reopen on Monday, July 20 at 12 p.m.

WEIRTON – Due to the extremely poor air quality in our region resulting from wildfires burning in Canada, Starvaggi Memorial Pool will be closed today, Friday, July 17, 2026.

For the safety of the public it serves, the Weirton Board of Parks & Recreation is recommending that people stay indoors and refrain from normal outdoor activities at Park Board facilities.

SMP PREPARES FOR SECOND SESSION OF YOUTH SWIMMING LESSONS

WEIRTON - Starvaggi Memorial Pool will be hosting Youth Swimming Lessons for children 4-12 years old. Children who will be turning 4-years old by the end of June are also eligible to participate.

The lessons will be conducted in five sessions over a two-week period. All sessions will take place from 6:00-7:00pm. A second time slot will be added after the first one is filled.

Session dates are as follows:
- Monday, July 20
- Wednesday, July 22
- Thursday, July 23
- Monday, July 27
- Wednesday, July 29

The registration fee is $65 per child for members of the Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) or Starvaggi Memorial Pool seasonal membership holders. The registration fee for non-members is $75 per child. Discounts are available for families with multiple children participating in this program.

Class size is limited, so don’t miss out! Applications are available at the Weirton Millsop Community Center front desk.
