WVU Extension - Brooke County WVU Extension Service meets the changing lifelong learning needs of people, organizations, and communities by putting knowledge to work in our community.

WVU Extension, working for you. A few of the activities conducted this past year in the community by the Agents, the NOI instructor, and the 4-H Program Assistant, have included:

Nutrition Classes in the primary and middle schools
Participation in the Health Fair at Wellsburg Primary
Taking the “Health Rocks” Program into the elementary schools
How to Start Plants from Seeds
A Rain Barrel Worksho

Square Foot Gardening
Holding Agriculture Days for all of the 5th Graders in Brooke County at Brooke Hills Park
Preparing “taste tests” at the Farmers’ Markets for demonstrating tasty vegetable dishes
Assisting in the nomination of a local citizen for the Governor’s Award for Community Service
Writing grants for beautification projects in the area
A six-week summer Energy Express program to enhance reading skills for students
4-H Camp that included 87 campers
A Cloverbud camp held at Brooke Hills Park

This event is open to youth ages 17 and under, and entry is FREE! Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

We were excited to have some of our Brooke County 4-H’ers attend today’s Brooke County Commission meeting! 🍀

Eva, Finely, Emery, and Brantley spoke about the opportunities and experiences they had at 4-H Camp this year, and Ashlyn shared her successes and experiences showing dairy cattle at fairs and exhibitions. They did a great job representing 4-H!

Thank you to the Brooke County Commissioners for their continued support of Brooke County 4-H and WVU Extension. Your support helps make these opportunities possible for our youth!

We are so proud to announce that Ashlyn McDougan has been selected to represent West Virginia 4-H as a National 4-H Congress attendee this November!

Following interviews with 28 outstanding 4-H youth from across the state, Ashlyn was chosen to represent West Virginia at one of the nation's premier 4-H leadership events. This incredible achievement reflects her dedication, leadership, and commitment to making the best better through 4-H.

National 4-H Congress brings together youth leaders from across the country for a week of leadership development, service, and personal growth. We know Ashlyn will be an exceptional ambassador for our club, our community, and West Virginia 4-H!
