🧸🧠 Child Development students officially completed their practicums this week!

All semester, students in Mrs. O’Brien’s Child Development 2 course have been practicing skills they can only learn in a classroom of early learners: coaching reading skills, cleaning sticky fingers, and everything in-between.

These classroom visits are a part of Child Development 2’s required practicum, where students will spend three class periods per week – 60 total hours – supporting teachers who work with children from birth to 3rd grade. CD2 students assist the same teacher all semester, allowing them to form the bonds and understanding of each child’s needs they would develop as a teacher.

“The best part was definitely just building relationships with all of the kids. It has definitely encouraged me to go into a field working with kids, either social work or pediatric occupational therapy!” said senior Layla Pickard.

The WHS production of Little Shop of Horrors brought home three awards at last week’s Apple Awards!

🌱 WHS Presents Little Shop of Horrors - Best Overall Musical
🎤 Elana Wendorf - Best Production Crew: Stage Manager
🎭 Kade Devereaux as Seymour - Best Lead Performer in a Musical

Congratulations Elana, Kade, and all of the WHS nominees! Each of you brought talent, hard work, and passion to the stage and behind the scenes. It’s a privilege to watch you in action!

The Apple Awards is a community celebration of theatre and performing arts in our region, held annually at the Numerica PAC. The Apple Awards mission is to recognize unique talents within our communities, promote the arts to a broader audience, increase the depth of appreciation to existing audiences, and encourage the continued development of exceptional performers.

🥇🥩 BBQ STATE CHAMPIONS // The Wenatchee FFA BBQ team brought home a 1st place for Pro Division BBQ at the state conference at WSU last week.

The FFA BBQ state competition challenges a team of students to roast 2 racks of pork spear ribs and one Tri-Tip roast to cook on an electric pellet grill and present to a panel of judges. Congratulations to Gage Galindo, Dalylah Mukai, Kira Quilter, Kailer Desmond Aaron Hammerberg, and advisors Mr. Asplund and Mr. Juchmes!

🥈 Junior Noelle Poole also brought home 2nd at state for Agriculture Education! The Ag Ed competition requires students to complete an exam, prepare a lesson plan, and present before a panel of judges. Congratulations Noelle and advisor Ms. Gambonini on this accomplishment!
