Bond FAQ Friday Episode #8 is here and this week we are talking about something every family cares deeply about. 🏫 Safety.

And not just locks and cameras but healthy air, natural light, a building that does not break down in the middle of a school day, and a campus that is secure and welcoming at the same time.

A few things that might surprise you about Wenatchee High School:

🚪 112 exterior doors. Every one a potential entry point that has to be monitored and secured. A modern school is not designed this way.

🪟 Many classrooms have no windows. Research consistently shows students in classrooms with natural light progress measurably faster in reading and math and have better attendance and well-being.

🌫️ Air systems that cannot handle wildfire smoke or extreme heat. Last fall air quality monitors showed unhealthy smoke inside the building. Classes were canceled. Students went home sick. This year three HVAC units failed the day before school started leaving 25 classrooms without cooling.

If the bond is approved by voters on November 3rd, the new WHS would have a secure consolidated entry, windows and natural light in every classroom, and modern air systems built for today's climate a campus designed for the safety, health, and academic success of every student.

Three student leaders with HOSA (Future Healthcare Professionals) are helping maintain safe and healthy environments right here at Wenatchee High School. These ladies volunteered their time after school to replace filters, clean screens, and disinfect 41 air purifiers to tackle smoky classroom air.

With aging HVAC systems and persistent wildfire seasons, smoky conditions at WHS have become a tough new normal that impacts students’ health and learning. This work is crucial—and often goes unnoticed. Thank you, Ingrid, Nellie, and Vivian for your hard work to keep our school healthy! 👏

On Nov 3, Wenatchee voters will decide the future of WHS by voting on a bond to modernize WHS infrastructure and replace HVAC systems at seven additional schools. For more information about what’s on the ballot, visit WenatcheeSchools.org/Bond

What’s on the November 3 Ballot?

As we begin a new school year, we want to make sure families know about an important item on the November 3 ballot.

Wenatchee voters will consider a $275 million school construction bond focused on two priorities: replacing most of Wenatchee High School and replacing aging heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at seven elementary and middle schools.

The proposal is the result of more than three years of facility assessments, planning, and community input. We will continue sharing information throughout the fall. Learn more at www.wenatcheeschools.org/bond.

🌎⭐ Panthers aren’t just setting the bar in social studies - but soaring past it! During the 2025/26 school year, Wenatchee High School students achieved a 96.4% pass rate on the AP Human Geography exam. That’s more than 20 percentage points past the Washington state pass rate of 71.3% and the global pass rate of 67%.

Great work to the hardworking students and staff in WHS social studies! It takes more to be a Panther!
