MAC MORRISON MURDER MYSTERIES Volume #5

Two boys are playing tether ball under a blood moon at a school playground. A third practices mumblety-peg with his uncle's silver stiletto. In two minutes, two of them are dead, a red ball is found under a body, a scrape of red paint is ignored on the tether ball pole, and the stiletto is missing. The police incompetently misinterpret the evidence and rush to judgment by
blaming an innocent child, who is one of those murdered.
Twenty years later, an Artificial Intelligence scan of unsolved murders reveals six instances where a red ball was found at the crime scene. Sheriff Lowell Buckman dubs them the Red Ball Murders, and calls in his crack consultant, Mac Morrison, with his Malamute-Shepherd police dog, Buddy. The six cases are all different, with no apparent motives or connecting clues.
Mac does what he always does: start at the scene, reconstruct the murder, and relentlessly question everything and everyone. He works from what he knows to what he doesn't know. But this time, he is not only matching wits with a sophisticated serial killer, he is
bucking the establishment who hired him.
One thing is for sure: no killer ever avoids.-Morrison Justice

Join us tomorrow evening, Friday, May 1 from 5pm-7pm in the Patterson Library Octagon Gallery with Judith Einach for her historical presentation of "Georgenia’s Portrait of America’s Past:
A Picture Seen Through Autographs"

Judith Einach-"When this autograph book was placed in my hands I sat quietly, slowly opening the cover, slowly turning pages, chills of thrill taking over my body. I knew I held a treasure that belongs to America, not just to me. The young woman who collected the autographs was the daughter of one of the wealthiest and most influential black men in 19th century America. Georgiana Downing’s autograph book paints a portrait of past American’s who, in oppressive and dangerous times, did all they could to advance freedom and justice for all. I hope my opening words, that are part of this installation, reveal poignant details supporting the significance of Georgiana’s collection and the beauty of the brushstrokes that are the autographs."

For interest in support or hosting her project, please contact Judith Einach at [email protected] or (716)316-5839 call or text.

Join us tonight with author Judy Shuler as she introduces us to her newest work, "The N**i's Daughter" at 5:30pm.

"Gisela has settled comfortably into her senior years. Stories of her early years in N**i Germany and its aftermath remain guarded and unspoken. No one has asked her about them. Until now. Jessica, her great-granddaughter, knows little of her German heritage and wants stories to include in an admission essay for college in Germany. As Jessica probes for information, Gisela struggles with what she will reveal.

An award-winning 10-minute play manuscript at the end provides a way for book clubs and discussion groups to bring Gisela's story to life."
