Today we recognize Brian King as he begins his journey in the United States Air Force!

Not every path to service follows a straight line. While his process took longer than some, he never lost sight of his goal. Through patience, determination, and a commitment to seeing things through, he continued moving forward one step at a time.

Now, he’s headed to Basic Military Training and will begin training as a 1C5X1 Battle Management Operations specialist, helping provide critical command, control, and coordination capabilities that support air operations around the world.

Your future is built by what you refuse to quit on. Congratulations, Brian, and thank you for answering the call to serve. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the years ahead!

Fast. High. Untouchable.

The SR-71 Blackbird was built for one purpose: gathering intelligence from places few others could reach. Flying at speeds exceeding Mach 3 and altitudes above 85,000 feet, the Blackbird became one of the most iconic aircraft in aviation history.

Special Reconnaissance Airmen are elite warfighters trained to gather critical intelligence, assess environments, and enable joint force operations in denied and austere locations.

This path demands discipline, resilience, and preparation—starting with the Special Warfare Operator Enlistment (SWOE) Initial Fitness Test:

SWOE IFT Minimum Standards:
💪 Pull-Ups: 8 (2 min)
💥 Push-Ups: 40 (2 min)
🔥 Sit-Ups: 50 (2 min)
🏃 1.5 Mile Run: Under 10:20
🏊 2 x 25m Underwater Swim
🌊 500m Surface Swim: Under 15:00

13.1 miles. Countless small decisions leading up to it.

Completing a half marathon over Memorial Day weekend was a goal I had been working toward for months — and it didn’t happen overnight. Big goals are built through everyday discipline, persistence, and refusing to quit when things get difficult.

The same mindset applies to your future. Whether it’s college, a career, learning a skill, or military service, success starts with setting a goal and taking the first step toward it.

Whatever challenge is in front of you this week, keep moving forward. Progress is progress.
