The 26th annual Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff will heat up Heritage Port tomorrow with a full day of food, music and fun. Beyond the chili, attendees can enjoy live music from The New Age Adenas and a Car Cruise. The fun kicks off at noon, rain or shine. Hope to see you there! One simple way to prevent fats, oils and grease (FOG) from clogging residential pipes is to use sink strainers to catch food scraps and dispose of them in the trash. Avoid relying on hot water or detergents to dissolve grease, as it can solidify farther down the plumbing system and contribute to costly clogs.

City officials joined Governor Patrick Morrisey today for ceremonial bill signings at Heritage Port. Senate Bill 467 strengthens protections for Purple Heart recipients by establishing penalties for the unauthorized use of designated Purple Heart parking spaces while House Bill 4437 extends vehicle registration fee waivers to Gold Star parents. Military families, veterans and state lawmakers also attended the event.

City Manager Robert Herron participated in a discussion today alongside representatives from WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital and the Regional Economic Development Partnership (REDP) regarding the WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex. The group reflected on the collaborative efforts that brought the project to fruition and discussed the significant impact it will have throughout the region. In addition to expanding access to high-quality cancer care, the $122 million facility is expected to serve as a major economic driver, creating jobs, attracting investment and strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure for years to come. The WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex, located on the former Ohio Valley Medical Center (OVMC) site in Center Wheeling, is expected to open in 2028
