It has been a busy few weeks celebrating the incredible success and achievements of our students, but today was the grandest of them all, Commencement. As Board President, I had the distinct honor and privilege of addressing and welcoming our graduates as they take the next step in their journey. I couldn’t be more proud of all they have achieved! Río Hondo College Board of Trustees President Rosaelva Lomeli proudly attended the Early College Academy Gala at South El Monte High School (SEMHS) last night, honoring an incredible group of students who went above and beyond.

For four years, 58 dedicated SEMHS students balanced their high school experience while completing two college courses each year at Río Hondo College—an amazing achievement that sets them on a strong path for the future. 🎓📚

I was proud to participate in the Shelter’s Right Hand 30th Annual 5K Walk in Whittier, supporting survivors of domestic violence and raising awareness for this important cause.
Along the route, I had the pleasure of connecting with Marco, a student from Rio Hondo College, whose enthusiasm and commitment to service is truly inspiring. It was also great to see to see my friend Lynda there cheering participants on.

This week was full of meaningful connections and community engagement! I had the opportunity to welcome the Department of Labor Representatives to Rio Hondo College, celebrate the kickoff of our Community Concert Series featuring the Hard Day’s Night Tribute Band, and enjoy today’s Spring Family Festival and Resource Fair.
A heartfelt thank you to our fabulous staff who make these events possible.
