Yesterday, the Whittier Police Department’s Traffic Bureau conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation focused on motorcycle safety. 🚔

Traffic officers monitored high-risk areas to identify and stop vehicles and motorcycles committing hazardous violations that directly impact road safety. Throughout the operation, 70 traffic stops were conducted, resulting in 61 citations issued.

Notably, two drivers were cited for speeding with one going 73 MPH on Colima Road near Murphy Ranch and another at 71 MPH on Santa Fe Springs Road at Mulberry.

Yesterday, Whittier PD Detectives served a narcotics-related search warrant in the unincorporated area of Whittier and the City of Santa Fe Springs due to local narcotic sales.

With the assistance of WPD K9’s, detectives located 1.65 pounds of suspected Methamphetamine. As a result of the warrant, 3 suspects were safely taken into custody - one of which was a convicted felon and documented gang member in possession of pistol magazines and ammunition.

On May 27, 2026, at approximately 4:45pm, Whittier PD Dispatch was notified of smoke from a possible brushfire in the 7700 block of Colima Road. Officers responded to the scene and quickly deployed drones overhead to locate the fire, at which time they directed Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel to its’ location.

While maintaining air support, the drone operators observed a male subject near the fire in an encampment. The subject was subsequently detained and arrested for starting the fire.

What did the Whittier PD Special Enforcement Team (SET) find today?

A convicted felon, and documented local gang member, in possession of a loaded firearm as well as approximately 38.9 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, scales, money, a false container, and packaging material for sales.

Yesterday, around 11pm, a WPD Officer was patrolling near Los Nietos Park in the City of Santa Fe Springs when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. During the traffic stop investigation, the officer located a loaded, unserialized ghost gun off one of the passengers.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested and booked at the Whittier PD Jail. đźš”

Yesterday, the Whittier PD Traffic Bureau conducted an OTS-funded traffic enforcement operation in the City of Whittier and the City of Santa Fe Springs. The operation resulted in 122 traffic stops, and 113 citations issued for hazardous moving violations.

Notable enforcement included the impoundment of an E-Motorcycle and several speeding citations: one driver was cited for traveling 79 mph on Colima Rd at Murphy Ranch and another was cited for traveling 78 mph on Slauson Ave at Chetle Ave.
