After Charlie Kirk was assassinated, Smith compared him to N**i propagandist Joseph Goebbels. Then he said: “We killed the head propagandist.” “Rest in Piss.”

You don’t have to agree with Charlie Kirk on anything to see the problem. A man was murdered over his politics, and Newton’s Democratic candidate for the Kansas House mocked it.

I had a great time this weekend in Sedgwick attending the ribbon cutting for the new fire station and walking in the fall festival parade. It was great to catch up with everyone!

This is great news for Newton and our state.

X-BAT announced that Newton will be home to X-Forge 2, where the company will conduct flight testing and sustainment for X-BAT.

I’m excited to see this kind of investment by Shield AI coming to our community. We have a great workforce, a strong aviation tradition, and a lot to offer companies looking to grow in Kansas.

I’m looking forward to seeing the large number of new jobs and opportunities here at home and across our region.

"Let's roll." Todd Beamer's last words, and forty ordinary people on Flight 93 decided what was going to happen next.

Today we remember them, the 2,977 lost, the first responders who ran toward the danger, and everyone who answered in the years since.

Happy Labor Day! Today we honor the spirit of the American worker. From Newton to Sedgwick and all over Harvey County, that spirit shows up every morning and gets the job done.

For those who supported me last night, thank you.

This was a hard-fought race. My focus all along was on the people of our district, our families, our neighbors, and our businesses. Thank you to everyone who joined our campaign and helped us get our message out. You knocked doors, put out signs, made calls, and prayed for us. I will not forget it.

To every voter in this district, whether I earned your vote or not, I work for you. That does not change. It will be my honor and privilege to keep fighting for all of us in Topeka.

Today we get back to work talking to voters. November is coming, and I am ready.

I have knocked your doors, answered your questions, and stood on my record. The leaders and organizations on this list stood with me. Tomorrow I am asking you to do the same.

Kansas opened the HERO Act this week. This helps our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS pay for mental health treatment when they're dealing with trauma from the job. The state has put $1 million dollars behind it, and first responders can apply for reimbursement now.

I'm proud to have helped usher this pilot program through the Transportation and Public Safety Budget Committee, which I chair, and the Appropriations process.

Our first responders show up for us every time we call. We ought to show up for them.

Kansas has opened reimbursement requests for a new first responder mental health program.
