Elevated Fire Risk Across Western Arkansas

Strong winds, low humidity, and above-average temperatures are creating elevated wildfire conditions across western Arkansas.

Currently, 42 counties are at a moderate wildfire risk level, and burn bans are in effect in 16 counties.

Please avoid outdoor burning, postpone activities that could create sparks, secure trailer chains, avoid parking on dry grass, and follow all local burn bans. Even a single spark can spread quickly and start a wildfire under these conditions.

Come out and see us at the Back to School Kids Health Fair on 7/29/2026 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Wickes Community Building on Stevenson Drive. Hosted by Dr. Randy Walker and the City of Wickes, a fire truck and firefighting gear will be displayed.
