Attica Fire Department hosted a water ball tourney today during Heritage Days Festival. Four departments competed: Attica, West Lebanon, Lewis Township from Clay County and Williamsport. Bragging rights go to Lewis Township Fire Department. They were gracious enough to teach the young guys some tricks and tips. Thank you to Attica Fire Department for hosting.

Well what an awesome turnout! We were blown away by the support of the car community as well as our local community! Some of the best cars we have had yet. Thanks to all those that returned this year and to all the newbies that we hope to see again next year. Next years show will be bigger and better. We will take what we learned from this year to improve on next years show. Next years show is already in the works, with all our attention on remembering the 2977 people that lost there lives on 9/11 2001 with 343 being firefighters and 71 police officers. It will be the 20th anniversary of this tragic terror event. We plan to go all out! Once again thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

We already have vendors & vehicles showing up. The band & beer garden will make a decision before 2 P.M. Follow us here on Facebook to stay updated.

Less than a week away!

What you might need to know.....

So far the weather forecast looks great! The Car Show & Fish Fry will happen rain or shine. The beer & wine garden and band will not happen if it rains. The town wide rummage sale will be up to each individual sale to decide in the event of inclement weather. Maps for the town wide rummage sale will be available at the fire station and car show registration. If you want your rummage sale on the map please comment below with your address.

Parking will be limited at the fire station. Front Street will be closed directly in front of the fire station for pedestrians only. To park at the fire station use Depot or Mill Streets off of State Road 28 (the two streets between the Sheriff's Department and Farm Bureau Insurance). This will be one way in and one way out. You can also park by the Court House, Extension Office and the Library. Monroe Street will be open at the railroad tracks but you will need to use Railroad Street.

Car Show Registration is from Noon to 3 P.M. We anticipate 100+ show vehicles this year. Dash plaques for the first 50 registrants. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle as well. One vendor will be providing breakfast. There will be three vendors serving lunch. One of the food vendors will be the Warren County 4-H Junior Leaders located at the fire station. The Fish Fry begins at 4 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the fire station. For Fish Fry deliveries in town only, please call 764-4070. The beer & wine garden (free admission) opens at 6 P.M. with Beau McGrew taking the stage at 7 P.M. and Main Street Exit rocking downtown Williamsport from 8 to 11. You do not want to miss out!

We strive to make this one of the best events around and make improvements every year. This event is operated entirely by volunteers who put in countless hours so please bear with us if there is a hiccup or two along the way. If anyone would like to volunteer to help please contact any of our firefighters.

During Motorama our event staff will be wearing fluorescent yellow shirts or navy Williamsport Fire Department shirts. Please reach out to them if you have a question or issue.

Masks and social distancing recommended. Hand sanitizer, wash stations and porta-potties will be available. Attend at your own risk. Please do not attend if you are ill or are at risk for illness. Williamsport Volunteer Fire Department and the Williamsport Firefighters & Auxiliary Incorporated are not liable for accident, injury or illness related to 2020 Motorama.

Attica, Pine Village, West Lebanon and Williamsport Fire Departments, Warren County EMS and Warren County EMA & LEPC staff participated in a joint training exercise on Wednesday night at the District 4 West Training site at the Warren County Emergency Management building and at Williamsport Elementary School parking lot. Approximately 30 firefighters and instructors attended. Firefighters divided up into three groups and rotated through three training stations. Some topics covered and simulated were fire attack, forcible entry, fire hydrants, master streams & nozzles, pump operations, aerial truck ops, command and radio ops. Cold drinks and a misting fan were utilized due to the heat & humidity. Training took place from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M. Railroad Street had to be blocked off due to fire hose being deployed from a fire hydrant to the training site. We want to thank the instructors from all of the departments that coordinated this joint training session. It was very well attended. More joint training sessions will take place in the future.

Approximately 3:33 P.M. on Tuesday, Attica & Williamsport Firefighters were dispatched to a possible residential fire on South Perry Street in Attica. A small electrical fire was located on the 2nd floor of the residence and extinguished. The residence was ventilated of smoke. Due to the heat & humidity Fountain County EMS provided rehab support checking vitals on firefighters and the Williamsport rehab truck responded with cold drinks. Attica Police Department and Indiana State Police provided traffic control. Units were clear of the scene approximately an hour later.

This morning we had a great time talking about fire safety and when to call 9-1-1 with the children at the Williamsport Parks Program. During our talk one of our trucks received a call and had to leave. The children were able to hear the radio call and see the truck respond. Afterwards all the children were able to play in the water spray. Video posted in comments.

City of Crawfordsville Press Release

LONG-TIME CRAWFORDSVILLE FIREFIGHTER AND PARAMEDIC SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ACCIDENT Forman also serves as Montgomery County Coroner and volunteer fire chief

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Darren Forman, a long-time firefighter and community paramedic with the Crawfordsville Fire Department is currently being treated at an Indianapolis hospital, the Crawfordsville Fire Department announced Wednesday.

Forman, 52, was seriously injured in an accident Tuesday evening in Coal Creek Township, Montgomery County. He was airlifted by StatFlight to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Forman was off duty at the time. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.

“Darren is a valued member of the department,” said Fire Chief Scott Busenbark. “We’re heartbroken and would appreciate the support of the community during this time.”

Forman will celebrate 20 years with CFD in August. He currently serves as Montgomery County Coroner and has been in that role or deputy coroner for much of the last 20 years. In January, Forman took over as Chief of Coal Creek Volunteer Fire.

Since it began in April 2018, Forman has led CFD’s Project Swaddle as part of the department’s Community Paramedicine program. Project Swaddle assists expecting mothers during high-risk pregnancies.

“Darren has been vital to the success of Project Swaddle,” said Paul Miller, Division Chief of EMS who oversees the Community Paramedicine program. “We are temporarily transitioning his duties to another firefighter with the assistance of Early Intervention Specialist Rachel Kenner. We are currently contacting the patients that Darren has been working with to provide more specific details.”

Forman was awarded Paramedic Hero of the Year in May of 2019 from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and Indiana Fire Chief’s Association. He received the Child Safety Advocate Award in June 2019 from the Indiana University School of
Medicine Automotive Safety Program. In 2016, he was recognized by the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau for Excellence in Service.

“Darren is known for giving to others through the various roles in which he serves, and he touches many lives in a profoundly positive way,” said Crawfordsville Mayor Todd Barton. “He works tirelessly on behalf of others and I am certain he will bring the same fight and passion into recovering from this setback.”

Forman also serves on the Crawfordsville Fire Department Honor Guard. He was past president of Crawfordsville Professional Firefighters Local 4143 and was a long-time volunteer with Madison Township Volunteer Fire. He is owner of Forman Blasters Pyrotechnics LLC, which provides fireworks each Fourth of July to communities including the City of Crawfordsville, Town of Waynetown and Lake Holiday.

A fundraiser is currently being organized by Waynetown Volunteer Fire, Coal Creek Volunteer Fire and HIM Hogs in Ministry. Further details will be provided at a later date.

Last night we conducted our monthly training and flowed some serious water using two portable tanks and our jet siphon. Firefighters familiarized and refreshed their knowledge on pump operations, drafting, portable tanks, deck gun, ground monitor and nozzle operations. Portable tanks and water shuttle are critical for rural firefighting operations.

Williamsport Firefighters conducted VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search) training on Tuesday night from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. This detailed skill involves a firefighter entering a burning residence through a first or second floor window to observe and isolate fire and smoke by closing a room or hallway door then doing a rapid search and removal of victims while a second firefighter stays at the window to assist.

Well what a great day we had! Got to help some of our community celebrate their birthdays! We had an overwhelming amount of people turn out to help. Thank you all! We have been watching videos of the day and seeing the excitement in the kids eyes and it makes us understand why we do what we do. Started out as one young mans birthday drive by and turned into ten! Plus we added a route past the jail, nursing facility and the Hospital to show our support to the front line workers during this time. Thank you all again for doing what you do.
