💜 Learning. Connecting. Growing. Together.

This week, members of CHILD, Inc.’s Domestic Violence Shelter team are in Austin, Texas, attending the 2026 National Conference on Domestic Violence.

Pictured are Brooke (left) and Khadilla, two of our dedicated team members who are taking part in this important national gathering. Three members of our shelter staff are attending the conference for continuing education and the opportunity to learn alongside more than 750 survivors, advocates, and community leaders from across the country.

The conference provides an invaluable opportunity to share knowledge, explore new strategies, strengthen best practices, and bring home new ideas that can make a meaningful difference for the individuals and families we serve here in Delaware.

At CHILD, Inc., we know that supporting survivors requires compassion, expertise, collaboration, and a commitment to continually learning and growing. We’re proud of our team for investing in that mission — and for representing CHILD, Inc. on the national stage. 💜

We look forward to having Brooke, Khadilla, and their colleague bring what they’ve learned back to our entire team and the Delaware community.

The mission of CHILD, Inc.’s Governor Terry Children's Center is to reduce the risk, occurrence, or recurrence of child abuse and neglect by providing a safe emergency home, meals, clothing, and age-appropriate activities and counseling to children ages 9 - 17.

CHILD, Inc. has operated the Governor Terry Children's Center for over 50 years as a 10-bed, short-term (30-45 days) emergency shelter. 💙 Thank You, Crane Charitable Funds! 💙

CHILD, Inc. is honored to receive a generous $4,500 donation from Crane Charitable Funds in support of our mission to strengthen children, families, and our community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Valerie for nominating CHILD, Inc. for this meaningful gift. Valerie’s support, along with the generosity of her mom, who faithfully donates clothing for the children and teens we serve each holiday season, continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of local families.

As Crane Charitable Funds shared in their award letter, they proudly support organizations that provide needed assistance to underserved populations and believe that corporate success goes hand in hand with social responsibility. We are deeply grateful to be recognized by an organization so committed to strengthening communities.

Because of Crane Charitable Funds’ generosity, CHILD, Inc. can continue providing critical programs and services that help children heal, families grow stronger, and hope flourish throughout our community.

From all of us at CHILD, Inc., thank you to Crane Charitable Funds, Valerie, and everyone at Crane Company for believing in our mission and investing in a brighter future for the children and families we serve. ❤️

💙 One young leader’s vision is already making a difference in the lives of children.

As part of her Eagle Scout Service Project, Samantha dedicated countless hours to researching, designing, planning, and leading volunteers to create 15 sensory and activity boards for CHILD, Inc.

These thoughtfully crafted boards will soon become valuable tools throughout our organization - in our play therapy rooms, parenting education classes, domestic violence shelters, Family Visitation Center, and Kids Place. They will provide children with opportunities for sensory play, help develop fine motor skills, and offer a comforting way to regulate emotions during times of stress, frustration, or uncertainty.

What a wonderful a lasting gift of compassion, creativity, and hope that will benefit hundreds of children and families for years to come!

Samantha recently presented the completed boards to our Parenting Education Coordinator and Executive Director, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her dedication, leadership, and generous heart.

Please join us in congratulating Samantha on achieving this incredible milestone and thanking her for choosing CHILD, Inc. as the recipient of her Eagle Scout Service Project. Your kindness and commitment will leave a lasting impact on every child who finds comfort, confidence, and joy through these special creations.

💙 Thank you, Samantha, for helping children heal, grow, and thrive.

Every child deserves to feel safe. Every parent deserves hope. Every family deserves a chance to heal. ❤️

Some children go to sleep wondering if they'll be safe tomorrow. Some families are fleeing violence with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Some young people simply need one caring adult to remind them that they matter.

Every day, CHILD, Inc. stands in the gap for Delaware's most vulnerable children and families. Through emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy, foster care, parenting support, and violence prevention programs, lives are being transformed—one child, one family, one story at a time.

Hope isn't just something we talk about. It's the frightened child who finds safety. It's the survivor who finds the courage to start over. It's the family that discovers healing is possible.

But this work is only possible because compassionate people choose to care.

Whether you volunteer, donate, advocate, or simply share our mission, you're helping ensure that no child has to face abuse, neglect, or violence alone.

Together, we can give every child what they deserve—a safe place to grow, a voice that is heard, and a future filled with possibility.

🎱💚 Community. Compassion. Making a Difference. 💚🎱

We are incredibly grateful to Delaware Veterans, Inc. — Wilmington Post No. 1 (Del Vets) for their generous $600 donation to CHILD, Inc., raised through their recent Mixed Scotch Doubles 8-Ball Charity Pool Tournament!

A very special thank you to Mark Parsons, who organized the tournament, and to Mark and Becky Parsons, pictured here, who both participated in the event. Their time, energy, and heart helped turn a fun day of friendly competition into meaningful support for children and families in our community. ❤️

This gift will help CHILD, Inc. continue our vital work providing prevention, intervention, and treatment programs that empower children and families to build safer, healthier lives free from violence.

To everyone at Del Vets, the Post members, tournament players, organizers, and supporters: thank you for believing in our mission and standing alongside the children and families we serve!

When a community comes together with compassion and purpose, the impact reaches far beyond the pool table. 🎱✨

From all of us at CHILD, Inc., thank you, Del Vets, for helping us create hope, safety, and brighter futures. 💚
