The Challenge Program’s mission is to provide vocational training in construction and woodworking for youth, ages 18 to 24 with significant barriers, to empower them with confidence and skills, to become highly employable and self-sufficient. Our mission is to provide vocational training for Delaware’s at-risk youth to empower them with the confidence, skills and purpose needed to become productiv

e members of society. Since 1995, the Challenge Program has offered young people the opportunity to learn valuable construction skills, assistance in earning a high school diploma or GED and job placement services.

Last Friday, The Challenge Program and Woodlawn Trustees gathered for a ribbon cutting. A crew of Challenge Program trainees (Yasin, Dimitrius, Asante, Byron, and Neil), under the supervision of Instructor LaMar Harding, completed the gut renovation of this historic two bedroom row home that will be turned into affordable housing managed by Woodlawn. What a year 2025 was! Despite the challenges we all faced, we are thankful for what we were able to accomplish with the ongoing support of folks in the community who believe in our mission.
