The Challenge Program’s mission is to provide vocational training in construction and woodworking for youth, ages 18 to 24 with significant barriers, to empower them with confidence and skills, to become highly employable and self-sufficient. Our mission is to provide vocational training for Delaware’s at-risk youth to empower them with the confidence, skills and purpose needed to become productiv

e members of society. Since 1995, the Challenge Program has offered young people the opportunity to learn valuable construction skills, assistance in earning a high school diploma or GED and job placement services.

Building it together! 🪵🏗️

Challenge Program / CP Furniture staff and trainees put together a timber frame puzzle for Forman Arts Initiative in Philadelphia. This hands-on project gave our trainees the opportunity to put their teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills into action on a real jobsite.

We are proud of the hard work, focus, and collaboration our team brought to this exciting Philadelphia project!

100 degree heat did not stop our Challenge Program instructors and crews from installing these benches on Wednesday at Eastlake Park and Playground in Wilmington. Part of a major renovation, the benches (or "stacked seating"), which have welded steel legs, were constructed in our shop and weigh 4,500 pounds!

Last Friday, The Challenge Program and Woodlawn Trustees gathered for a ribbon cutting. A crew of Challenge Program trainees (Yasin, Dimitrius, Asante, Byron, and Neil), under the supervision of Instructor LaMar Harding, completed the gut renovation of this historic two bedroom row home that will be turned into affordable housing managed by Woodlawn. It was a big project and we are so proud of LaMar and his crew!
