NATIONAL DOG DAY | MAN’S BEST FRIEND

Every firefighter knows the value of having a good partner by your side and for many of us, that partnership doesn’t end when we leave the firehouse.

We’re recognizing man’s best friend: the dogs who greet us after a long call, keep us company between shifts, and are always ready to be there when we walk through the door.

From the family pet to the four-legged members of our firehouse families, these loyal companions are part of what keeps us going.

Sharing a few photos from tonight’s joint training with firefighters from North Windham Fire Department and South Windham Fire Department Departments as part of a firefighter muster drill.

Crews put their hose advancement skills to the test, maneuvering hose through a cone course while focusing on control, communication, and teamwork.

The course brought a competitive edge to the training, challenging crews to work efficiently and finish strong.

Yesterday, our Junior Firefighters Natalie Long and Josiah Cruz took part in Paulie’s Push, putting in the work alongside members of the fire service community.

Opportunities like this are what being a Junior Firefighter is all about, getting involved, building confidence, learning from others, and becoming part of something bigger than yourself.

We’re proud to see Natalie and Josiah representing Windham Center Fire Department and stepping forward as part of the next generation of the fire service.

This is more than a program. It’s where the journey begins.

A special thank you to Paulie's Push for welcoming our Juniors and giving them the opportunity to be part of this meaningful event.

A Day We Will Remember.

Windham came together for something bigger than a journey.

Paulie’s Push brougt remembrance, purpose, and community spirit through our streets. From the first wave along the route to the members who had the opportunity to walk and push alongside Paulie, it was a reminder of what makes this community special.

Rain couldn’t stop the Push and it certainly didn’t stop Windham from showing up.

To everyone who stood along the road, waved, cheered, shared our posts, welcomed Paulie at North Windham FD, or simply took a moment to acknowledge what this journey represents, thank you.

For our members, being able to walk alongside Paulie was an honor we won’t soon forget.

Today wasn’t just about the miles.

It was about remembering, standing together, and showing that when one person carries a message of remembrance, an entire community can help carry it forward.

Thank you, Paulie, for letting Windham be part of your journey.

Keep pushing. We’ll keep remembering.

We are currently making our way along Route 6 through Windham with Paulie’s Push, with members from the Windham fire departments joining him along the route.

Please use caution and be alert while traveling through the area. Give the group plenty of room as they make their way through town.
