As we wrapped up the month of May, we'd like to thank our members, residents, and community partners for their continued support.

During the month, the Windham Center Fire Department responded to 95 calls for service, providing emergency response and assistance throughout our district.

Beyond emergency calls, our members enjoyed connecting with the community during the first Third Thursday event of the season and attending Cars With A Cause: Driving for Autism. It was great to see so many familiar faces and community members at both events.

We also celebrated a successful evening on the softball field as the Windham-Scotland Fire Softball Team defeated American Ambulance 24-16 in a home game. The team is comprised of members from North Windham, South Windham, Windham Center, and Scotland Fire Departments. Thank you to the family members, friends, and supporters who came out to cheer on the team.

Whether responding to emergencies or participating in community events, we remain proud to serve the Town of Windham.

We would like to recognize Tyler Nadile and Mason Varga on successfully completing and passing their Firefighter I practical examinations today.

This achievement reflects the dedication, commitment, and countless hours of training required to meet the standards of the Firefighter I program. Their hard work and determination throughout the process have prepared them for the responsibilities that come with serving our community.

The photos shared here were taken during training leading up to their testing and reflect the hard work, dedication, and commitment required to achieve this milestone. Countless hours are spent preparing for Firefighter I, and their efforts have paid off.

Please join us in congratulating Tyler and Mason on this significant milestone in their fire service careers.

Use Caution Today Gusty Winds Across the Area

Our department has responded to multiple calls today involving trees and limbs down on power lines and trees blocking roadways due to strong wind gusts.

As winds continue throughout the day, we encourage everyone to use extra caution when traveling:

• Be alert for fallen trees, limbs, and other debris on roadways.
• Stay well away from any downed wires and assume all wires are energized.
• Slow down and be prepared for unexpected road closures or hazards.
• Report emergencies and hazardous conditions to the appropriate authorities.

We appreciate everyone's patience as emergency crews work to address these incidents safely.

Please stay aware of changing conditions and help keep yourself, your family, and your neighbors safe.

Stay safe and use caution if you are out and about today.
