Let the photo quest begin!!!!!!!

🌲 Week 1: Parks & Playgrounds

☀️📸 Week 1 is here – let the adventure begin!
Welcome to the 2026 Summer Parks Photo Quest with Friends of Winterset Parks and Recreation! We’re kicking things off by exploring some of the amazing parks right here in Winterset.

Grab your family, head outside, and complete this week’s challenges:
🛝 Go down a slide and snap an action shot
🌳 Swing as high as you can and capture the moment
🌿 Build something creative using sticks, rocks, or nature
🧺 Take a group photo on a picnic blanket

📲 How to participate:
Post your photos in the comments or tag Friends of Winterset Parks & Recreation by Sunday evening! Make sure your post is public so we can see it!

🌟 We’ll feature our favorite photos next week, AND give out five $10 gift cards for Aquatic Center concession cash! So get creative, be silly, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

We're excited to host MLB's Pitch, Hit and Run for a second straight year!

Athletes between 7 and 14 years of age are eligible to compete in the free event for a chance to qualify for the Team Championship round!

Finalists at the Team Championship round can then qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip for themselves and one guardian to compete in the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Finals at the 2026 World Series!

We will host baseball and softball competitions in four different age brackets at Giffin Fields.

Be sure to include Yoga at the Bridge in your plans for the summer!

Connect with nature, center your mind, and condition your body at Yoga at the Bridge in Winterset City Park. Join Katie, yoga instructor and Madison County resident, on select Saturday mornings for a mindful yoga flow. This Hatha Yoga session is open to all ages and abilities, and it’s free! Come as you are! Feel free to bring a mat, towel, or blanket- no other props required!

These classes will be held at 9:00 AM and are FREE to attend! No pre-registration required!

The Winterset Aquatic Center is proud to recognize Noah as our inaugural WAC Champion for the 2026 Aquatics season!!! This is a continuation of our employee of the week program from past seasons.

Noah is a veteran lifeguard and is being recognized for his consistency enforcing policies, his willingness to help out around the facility and his eagerness to help new lifeguards this season! Thanks for all your hard work Noah, you are a true champion!

The Winterset Fieldhouse project continues moving forward with thoughtful, responsible cost-saving measures that preserve the core vision of the facility while maintaining a strong and sustainable long-term business plan. At a recent City Council meeting, residents and local leaders shared why they believe this project is an important investment in Winterset’s future.

Investments like this can help attract new families, support local growth, and enhance quality of life for those who already call Winterset home. This project is designed to create more opportunities for recreation, wellness, tournaments, community events, and year-round activities for residents of all ages. The vision remains strong while allowing flexibility to grow and adapt alongside Winterset for years to come.

This November, residents will have the opportunity to vote on moving the project forward. Together, we can continue building a vibrant, active, and connected future for Winterset.

As a reminder the Winterset Aquatic Center will be open for Public Swim only (no lap swim or toddler time) from 4:00 to 8:00 PM this Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29!

Once school is out, regular business hours will resume on Saturday, May 30.
