Winthrop voters approved the Winthrop Public Schools' fiscal year 2026-27 budget by a margin of 1,273-425. Another 32 ballots were left blanking, meaning 1,730 ballots were cast.

Primary vote totals were still being tallied as of 9 p.m. They will be reported on the the Town's page and winthropmaine.gov as they become available.

The Winthrop Public Schools' budget increased 5.44%, or $802,193. A $506,388 increase in non-property tax revenue means an additional $301,805 in property taxes will be needed to support the budget. The increase in the schools' tax levy (the amount of taxes collected) will increase 3.28%.
