Lindsey Talkington knows what it’s like to love a pet and not have the money for veterinary care.

Growing up, her family couldn’t afford the care her puppy Delilah needed. That experience never left her.

Today, Lindsey is a One Health board member, rescue advocate, foster, and pet parent to five rescue dogs. She’s turned something painful from her childhood into a commitment to helping other pets stay with the families who love them. 💙

The house gets quieter. Pets notice.

As school routines start again, dogs and cats may need a little time to adjust. They may follow you more, seem restless, sleep more than usual, bark or meow more, or just seem a little off when the day starts to feel different.

A few small things can help:
• Keep meals, walks, and playtime as steady as you can
• Give them a cozy spot where they feel safe
• Leave out a favorite toy or blanket
• Spend a few quiet minutes with them before you go and when you get home
• Pay attention to changes that last more than a few days

Pets may not understand the back-to-school schedule, but they do feel the changes at home.

A little patience can help them settle in too.

Mike’s gift in honor of Beans was rooted in 12 years of love, adventure, and friendship.

Beans was his “bestest friend,” his kayaking sidekick, and a beloved companion who shared countless memories with Mike and his family.

After Beans passed, Mike made a memorial gift in his honor. It was one way to remember the bond they shared and help other pet parents experience more time, comfort, and care with the animals they love.

Over the years, Mike has continued to support One Health Organization, sharing photos, stories, and the kind of love so many pet people understand.

We’re grateful for Mike’s generosity, and for Beans’ lasting legacy.

August 22 is National Bring Your Cat to the Vet Day, a good reminder that cats do not always make it obvious when something is wrong.

A cat who is hiding more, eating less, drinking more water, using the litter box differently, grooming less, or acting “not quite like themselves” may be trying to tell you something.

Routine vet visits can help catch small issues before they become bigger concerns.

Here’s to keeping our cats healthy, comfortable, and well cared for at home.

More than 90% of One Health Organization’s funding comes from individual donors.

That means this work is powered by people who care about pets, families, and the bond they share.

Because of donor support, One Health Organization has helped provide over $430,000 in veterinary care and support 3,200 veterinary visits for pets whose families needed help with the cost of care.

Every gift, large or small, becomes part of something bigger: a pet getting care, a family feeling relief, and more dogs and cats staying healthy at home.
We can’t do this work without people like you: https://hubs.ly/Q04txZYB0

Sometimes helping a pet starts with helping the person who loves them.

That can look like offering a ride to the vet, sharing pet food or supplies, checking in on a neighbor, or giving someone a little help figuring out the next step.

Small acts of support can make a difficult time feel a little less lonely.

At One Health Organization, we see how much people love their pets, and how much it matters when a community shows up with care, kindness, and practical help.

Because when pet parents feel supported, pets are supported too.

Some of Kit’s cats have extra toes, and all of them have plenty of personality.

Kit and her husband share their rural Ohio home with Bobo the beagle and five cats, including several polydactyl cats. Their home is full of quirks, routines, and a lot of love.

As retirees living on Social Security, Kit and her husband do everything they can to care for the animals they love. With help from One Health Organization’s Veterinary Care Vouchers, they were able to get Koko’s kitten vaccinations and provide treatment for an older cat with kidney failure.

August is Clear The Shelters Month, a time to celebrate shelter pets waiting for loving homes and the people who help them get there.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is a great time to connect with local shelters and rescues, ask questions, and learn which pet may be the right fit for your home.

And if adoption is not the right step for you right now, shelters still need support. You can donate, foster, volunteer, share adoptable pets, or help spread the word.

Every pet deserves care, safety, and a person who is ready to love them well.
