This campaign trail of Service Recognition focuses on those Officials (bo Ntate le bo Mme) who spent 30 and 40 years and above in the employment of the Department and Government in general.

DDM POLITICAL CHAMPIONS PREPARE TO ACCELERATE SERVICE DELIVERY

MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms. Dibolelo Mance, together with Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Gregory Nthatisi, chaired a District Development Model (DDM) Political Champions Preparatory Meeting earlier today.

This session brought various stakeholders together to strengthen coordination across the board with the aim of accelerating the delivery of service to our people.

During yesterday's Heritage Day Celebration, colleagues had the opportunity to taste a variety of traditional foods, celebrating the different cultures and flavours that form part of our South African identity.

Celebrating Heritage, Embracing Diversity

The Free State Department of Public Works and Infrastructure today celebrated Heritage Day with music, dance, laughter and a celebration of the diverse cultures that make us who we are.

The celebration took place at the Visitors Information Centre (VIC) in Bloemfontein, with MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms Dibolelo Mance, and Head of Department, Mr Molato Tshabalala, joining employees in marking this important day.

The atmosphere was filled with joy as colleagues came together to celebrate their heritage. The Free State Musicon delivered beautiful performances, while the Department’s Creative Explosive Team brought the energy with a vibrant dance performance. The celebration reached another special moment when MEC Mance joined the team on the dance floor.

The Department’s regional offices were also encouraged to host their own Heritage Day celebrations, taking the spirit of the day across the regions.

As we commemorate Heritage Day during Public Service Month, we are reminded that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. As public servants, we serve communities made up of different cultures, languages, traditions and backgrounds and creating a workplace where these differences are respected and celebrated is an important part of building a stronger public service.

Heritage Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate what makes us unique, while recognising what brings us together: our shared commitment to serving the people of the Free State.

Today, we celebrated our cultures. We celebrated one another. And we celebrated the richness of being proudly South African.

Celebrating Our Heritage, Serving Our People

Tomorrow, the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure will come together to celebrate Heritage Day, a day that allows us to reflect on the rich cultures, traditions, languages and stories that form part of who we are as South Africans.

As a Department entrusted with contributing to the development and maintenance of public infrastructure, our work is closely connected to the communities we serve. The places we build, maintain and preserve form part of our collective heritage and help tell the story of our people.

Today 17 September 2026, MEC Dibolelo Mance participated in robust discussions at the Ngwathe Business Breakfast, a focused business, investment and Local Economic
Development platform hosted by the Edgar Legoale Foundation under the Ngwathe Experience.

The Ngwathe Business Breakfast brought together government officials, investors, financial institutions, tourism stakeholders,
entrepreneurs and SMMEs.

With the purpose of connecting businesses with markets, investors with projects, and government with the right partners to unlock sustainable economic development in Ngwathe.

In her remarks, MEC said “Our role is to contribute through infrastructure delivery, maintenance, built environment skills development and partnerships that support the effective use of public assets. We aim to move towards an approach where planning is informed by economic opportunity, while economic initiatives are supported by realistic infrastructure planning”
