RE: UPDATE - CONTACT DETAILS FOR MUNICIPAL ACCOUNT STATEMENTS

JB Marks Local Municipality requests all customers, property owners, account holders, consumers and ratepayers to ensure that their personal and contact details are accurate and up to date on the Municipal Billing System.

Postal delivery of Municipal Account Statements may be delayed or unsuccessful. Customers are therefore encouraged to provide a valid cellphone number and email address to receive account statements, payment demands and notices electronically.

Municipal Account Statements can also be obtained electronically through the CAB Printers e-Document Facility: https://jbmarks.cabedocs.com/

Customers are encouraged to access their statements regularly and ensure that all Municipal Accounts are paid by the 10th of every month to avoid falling into arrears.

JB Marks Local Municipality, through the Department of Local Economic and Rural Development, participated in the Legacy in Action: Empowering the Next Generation of Women Leaders programme, hosted in partnership with the NWU Business School and the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWA)

The programme brought together established and emerging women leaders for conversations on leadership, business legacy, organisational impact and building a stronger pipeline of women leaders for the next decade.

Representing the Office of the Executive Mayor in JB Marks Local Municipality, Lesego Legwete, Gender Coordinator participated as a panelist. In her role, Lesego drives the municipality’s work on gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), LGBTQIA+ inclusion and women’s empowermen, bringing an important gender and community perspective to the discussions.

The programme also provided an opportunity for women from JB Marks to network, share experiences and connect with strategic partners strengthening relationships between local government, academia, business and women-led initiatives.

For JB Marks, collaboration remains key to advancing local economic development. By tapping into each other’s knowledge, networks, skills and resources, we can unlock opportunities, strengthen women’s participation in the economy and build a legacy that extends beyond today.

Together, we can connect our strengths, grow our local economy and build a lasting legacy.

JB Marks Municipality Hosts Women in Business Workshop

Empowering Women. Building Businesses. Leveraging Tourism. Growing Local Economies.

On 27 August 2026,the JB Marks Local Municipality, through the Department of Local Economic and Rural Development, in partnership with the NWU Business School, hosted the JB Marks Women in Business Workshop at the NWU Business School, Potchefstroom Campus.

The workshop brought together women entrepreneurs for a day of learning, networking and practical business development, with a focus on unlocking opportunities that contribute to local economic growth.

The programme featured valuable engagements on women driving local economic development, building sustainable businesses, developing a business mindset, accessing business support and funding opportunities, and digital marketing and branding.

The workshop also highlighted the potential of tourism as a lever for local economic development encouraging women entrepreneurs to explore opportunities within the tourism value chain and use local assets to create sustainable businesses and economic opportunities.

The day provided a meaningful platform for women to connect, gain knowledge, access support and build partnerships that can strengthen their businesses and communities.

RE: POWER OUTAGE AFFECTING PROMOSA AND MOHADIN DUE TO VANDALISM AT POORTJIEDAM SUBSTATION

The JB Marks Local Municipality wishes to inform residents of Potchefstroom that a power outage is currently affecting the areas of Promosa and Mohadin and has been ongoing since the early hours of this morning.

Following an investigation by the technical team, the Municipality received confirmed reports of vandalism at the Poortjiedam Substation, which has disrupted the electricity supply to affected areas. The technical team is currently assessing the extent of the damage and determining the most appropriate and safest approach to carry out the necessary repairs.

At this stage, we are unable to confirm an estimated time for restoration, as the extent of damage and time required to complete repairs are still being assessed.

The Municipality requests affected residents to remain patient, while the technical team works to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible.

RE: WATER TREATMENT PLANT BREAKDOWN- VENTERSDORP

The JB Marks Local Municipality wishes to inform residents in the greater Ventersdorp area of a breakdown at the Water Treatment Plant.

The required materials are anticipated to be delivered on the afternoon of Thursday, 27 August 2026. The affected components will be connected immediately upon delivery. The Municipality is currently operating with one plant, which may affect water supply to high-lying and outlying areas of Ventersdorp and Tshing.

The JB Marks Local Municipality sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the breakdown. We are working diligently to restore normal operations and ensure the continued provision of reliable services to our residents.
