Today, we addressed RDP housing applicants in Atteridgeville, particularly residents who are in possession of Form C, the official proof of registration on the government housing database.

Residents raised concerns about the backlog in the allocation of RDP houses and sought clarity on the process.
We informed that that Gauteng Provincial Government is responsible for the construction of RDP houses, while the City of Tshwane’s mandate includes the allocation of serviced stands.

As part of efforts to help address the housing backlog, the City has been prioritising qualifying and interested beneficiaries for the allocation of serviced stands. This provides an alternative pathway towards homeownership and secure tenure for eligible residents.

The Department of Human Settlements is also currently issuing eviction orders in cases involving the illegal occupation of RDP houses, in accordance with the applicable processes.

The City remains committed to engaging with residents and exploring practical avenues to expand access to secure housing and tenure

Following our visit to Amanda Park in Ward 93, Mamelodi, we updated qualifying residents who are on the relocation list that a service provider has been appointed to assist with the relocation process, and relocations will now commence.

Residents are urged to cooperate with the relocation process and to ensure that they do not sell or unlawfully transfer the stands allocated to them as part of the relocation programme. They are also urged not to re-occupy the unsafe stands they are being relocated from, as this could place their lives and those of their families at risk.

A service provider has been appointed to assist with the relocation process, as we continue working to improve the lives of our people.

During the ANC government in Tshwane, services were delivered even in informal settlements, including formalisation projects, relocations and electrification.

In the eight years of DA leadership, nothing happened; not a single community meeting was called, and funds were returned to Treasury. Compare that with the work we have done since taking office 19 months ago.

When Tshwane MMC for Housing and Human Settlements, Ald. Aaron Maluleka took office, he committed to reducing the title deed backlog, and ensuring that residents have secure ownership of their homes.

Today, the backlog has been reduced by 50%, marking significant progress in their commitment to secure tenure and home ownership.

MMC for Human Settlements, Ald. Aaron Maluleka, together with Deputy Mayor and MMC for Finance, Cllr Eugene Modise led a title deeds Friday Campaign in Soshanguve South, Ward 89 joined by Clr Tshepo Malefane.

"We encourage all beneficiaries whose title deeds are ready to collect them at their respective municipal offices. A title deed is more than a document, it is proof of ownership, security and dignity" .
