CELBRATING OUR SECRETARIES THIS SECRETARIES' DAY - 02/09/2026

Our school community gathered to celebrate and honour the incredible dedication of our secretaries. Often working quietly behind the scenes, they are the heartbeat of our school’s daily operations. From welcoming visitors with warmth, to ensuring that communication flows smoothly, to keeping records accurate and up to date - their contributions are invaluable and worthy of emulation.

Our secretaries embody patience, professionalism and kindness. They are the first friendly faces that greet learners, parents and staff, and they provide support that allows teaching and learning to thrive. Their ability to balance countless tasks with grace and efficiency is a true inspiration.

On this Secretaries’ Day, we express our deepest gratitude for their unwavering commitment. This assembly is not only a celebration of their hard work, but also a reminder that every role in our school matters. Together, we form a team - and today, we shine the spotlight on those who keep that team connected and strong.

PINETOWN DISTRICT CHESS TOURNAMENT - 28/08/2026

Ruhaan Lutchman, Uriel Govender, Nimisha Sivsanker, Sashkia Haripersad and Shriya Luckraj represented TONVER at the Pinetown District Chess tournament on Friday, 28 August 2026. Sashkia and Uriel were selected to represent Pinetown.

At the Friendship Games held on Saturday, 29 August, Ruhaan, Sashkia and Shriya represented TONVER for chess. Ruhaan led the U15 team to victory - taking first position- and the U17 team was placed second. Congratulations to our chess team on their sterling performance!

"SHE TEACHES. SHE LEADS. SHE INSPIRES." - MVSS'S WOMEN'S MONTH BREAKFAST SOCIAL (29/08/2026)

Mountview Secondary School recently hosted a memorable Women’s Day Breakfast Social under the inspiring theme “She Teaches. She Leads. She Inspires.” The event formed part of the MVSS's 50th anniversary celebrations, shining a spotlight on the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in shaping the future.

Guests arrived dressed in shades of pinks and peaches, filling the school quadrangle with warmth and elegance. The open-air setting created a welcoming atmosphere where women of all ages gathered to connect, reflect and celebrate.

The morning began with a delightful high tea, followed by a hearty hot breakfast served between motivational talks. Influential women from Verulam and surrounding areas took to the stage, sharing powerful stories of perseverance, leadership and inspiration that resonated deeply with the audience. Among the speakers present were Maya Jagjivan Kalicharan (journalist) Dr P. Gramanie (Head of Exams - Pinetown District), Nalini Heera (Brindhaven Civic), Zama BP Mhlongo (Entrepreneur) Dayani Sigamoney (Physiotherapist), Dr Prabashni Coopsamy (Medical & Aesthetic practitioner), Ps. Jane Rampersad, Valen Govender (CEO of GYST) and Shabnum Salod (Social Worker). Nirmala Ulassi of Brindhaven Florist conducted a beautiful floral arrangement tutorial while Shiksha Singh of SH Makeup Artistry did a tutorial on how to create the perfect eye look.

The programme was steered by popular TikTok content creator MC Lyndelle Moodley, whose energy and charm kept the audience engaged throughout. Guest speakers brought diverse perspectives, motivating attendees to embrace their roles as changemakers in their communities.

Over 90 guests were treated to a luxury goodie bag - a token of appreciation that added to the sense of celebration and special woven into the event.

The organising committee, led by Mrs T. D. Nair-Govender and Mrs M. Pillay, worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the function. Heartfelt gratitude was expressed to the principal, the School Governing Body, staff members, support staff, guest speakers, learners, and generous whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the event.

The Women’s Day Breakfast Social was more than just a celebration - it was a testament to the enduring impact of women as teachers, leaders, and inspirations. As part of MVSS’s golden jubilee, the event reinforced the school’s commitment to honouring the contributions of women to society and empowering future generations.
