ZNS Commander Urges Personnel to Build Wealth Through Entrepreneurship, Land Investment
The Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander, Lieutenant General Engineer Maliti Solochi II, has encouraged Service personnel to build multiple streams of income through entrepreneurship and strategic investments in land as a way of achieving long-term financial security.
Speaking during an Indaba at ZNS Headquarters Garrison in Lusaka yesterday, Lt Gen Solochi said personnel should not rely solely on their monthly salaries but should take advantage of business opportunities that generate additional income.
"Your salary should not be your only source of income. I encourage every member of the Service to venture into entrepreneurship and establish multiple streams of income that will guarantee financial security for you and your families," he said.
The ZNS Commander also urged personnel to invest in land, describing it as a valuable long-term asset that appreciates over time and can create lasting wealth for individuals and their families.
"Land is one of the best investments you can make. Its value appreciates over time and provides opportunities for agriculture, housing development, and other income-generating ventures. Buy land whenever you have the opportunity because it is an investment in your future," Lt Gen Solochi said.
He said entrepreneurship promotes self-reliance, innovation, and economic resilience, encouraging personnel to explore ventures in agriculture, manufacturing, retail, and other productive sectors while upholding the discipline and professionalism expected of members of the Service.
"As disciplined men and women in uniform, you can successfully balance your duties with legitimate business ventures. Entrepreneurship is not just about making money, it is about creating opportunities, building resilience, and contributing to national development," the Commander emphasized.
Lt Gen Solochi reaffirmed ZNS's commitment to empowering its personnel with financial knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, stating that a financially secure workforce is key to enhancing productivity and supporting national development.
"A financially empowered workforce is a productive workforce. ZNS will continue encouraging initiatives that equip our personnel with the knowledge and skills to build sustainable wealth while serving the nation with dedication and professionalism," he said.
