GROW ZAMBIA AGENDA TO DEVELOP ALL PARTS OF ZAMBIA

Chieftainess Mumpanshya of the Soli people of Rufunsa district has commended the New Dawn government for spearheading various development projects in her chiefdom.

Speaking during the 2026 Chiwela Kumushi traditional ceremony, the traditional leader cited the Free education policy, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and sponsorship of yuths in skills development under the same fund, as well as various infrastructure projects such as schools, health facilities among others.

She also thanked government for the Social Cash Transfer programme which has helped many vulnerable people in her chiefdom.

The traditional leader has since asked government to work on selected roads and bridges in the chiefdom, and upgrade Rufunsa police post to a police station, as well as rehabilitate the Great East Road up to Luangwa bridge as several points have been damaged.

And Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Dr. Gabriel Pollen who officiated at the ceremony, assured Chieftainess Mumpanshya that government will continue to develop all parts of Zambia anchored on the grow Zambia agenda of the 10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1 formular as espoused by President Hakainde Hichilema.

GOVT COMPLETES WETLAND INPUTS DISTRIBUTION IN LUSAKA PROVINCE

LUSAKA, Zambia, Monday 14th September, 2025: In continuous efforts to improve household and national food security, government in Lusaka Province has completed the distribution of Wetland inputs in all the six districts.

The package of the inputs includes Compound D and UREA fertilizer, White Hybrid Maize seed both early and medium maturing, Maize Hybrid seed, fortified with Vitamin A, Medium Maturity, Red Onion, Okra, Bactericide, R**e, Cabbage, Butternut, Tomoto, Eggplant seeds as well as Insecticide, Fungicide and Agriculture lime.

The total Wetland inputs beneficiaries in the province is 5,710, with Lusaka district having 500 beneficiaries while Chilanga, Rufunsa, Kafue, and Luangwa have 1,000 each and Chongwe stands at 1,210 beneficiaries.

The Core Objective of the Wetland inputs intervention is to Mitigate droughts and erratic rainfall by utilizing dambos, rivers, and wetlands for continuous food production across the country.

The National Target of the government initiative is 120,000 vulnerable but viable farming households for dry-season and year-round cultivation.

Lusaka Provincial administration commends the Department of Community Development under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services for being steadfast in implementing this very important programme.

SECRETARY to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has directed all Permanent Secretaries, Provincial Administrations, and Local Authorities to immediately activate contingency plans in preparation for the anticipated effects of El-Niño, warning that the weather phenomenon could worsen food insecurity across Zambia.

Mr Kangwa said Government institutions should not wait for the effects of the weather pattern to become a crisis before taking action, as different parts of the country are expected to experience varying levels of rainfall during the 2026-2027 season.

He was speaking during the launch of the 2026-2027 National Seasonal Rainfall Forecast Outlook, where he urged citizens, particularly farmers, to also prepare early and adjust their activities according to the expected weather conditions.
