LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA โ The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED) is currently taking part in the 15th Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC) Annual General Meeting and Conference, underway in Livingstone. The event is being held under the theme, โBeyond Buzz Words: Leading with Purpose and Impact.โ
This yearโs AGM and Conference offers a high-level professional platform for dialogue, learning, and strategic engagement on emerging trends shaping the public relations and communication professionโcritical areas for effectively telling the story of Zambiaโs MSME sector and supporting enterprise growth.
Officially opening the Conference, Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Mr. Thabo Kawana, urged communicators to play a key strategic role in strengthening institutions, promoting public trust, and supporting national development through professional and impactful communication.
Representing the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development are Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms. Virginia Chilongo, and Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Diniwe Zulu. They are actively engaging in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at enhancing communication practice and strengthening public engagementโkey elements in promoting MSME development, access to markets, and business support services.
The conference also featured presentations from distinguished communication leaders, including African Public Relations Association (APRA) President, Arik Karani, and other regional and international experts, who shared insights on the evolving role of strategic communication in driving institutional effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development.
Speaking during the conference, Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) President, Dr. Caroline Azionya, commended Zambiaโs strides in professionalising the public relations and communications function.
The conference has brought together communication practitioners, policymakers, academics, and industry leaders from across the region to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the profession while promoting excellence, purpose-driven leadership, and impactful communication.
The Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development remains committed to leveraging strategic communication to empower MSMEs, enhance stakeholder trust, and contribute to Zambiaโs national development agenda.
