A brilliant start to something special! ✨
We were delighted to welcome the first cohort of the Wallace Group Universities Volunteer Programme to the British High Commission in Lusaka this week.
Deputy Head of Mission, Jason Tran, shared a warm welcome and encouraged the new volunteers to fully embrace their experience in Zambia as they begin their journey.
Thirteen students, alongside their Project Manager, have travelled from across the UK and will spend the next two months working with Sport in Action—supporting young people across Lusaka through sport, mentorship, and coaching. From Chipata to Kanyama, Matero to Kamwala, their journey is now underway.

The energy, curiosity, and commitment in the room during orientation set the tone for what promises to be an impactful experience. There is also plenty to look forward to, including a vibrant “Zambian Night” later this week.
This work matters. Partnerships like these go beyond volunteering—they build lasting connections between the UK and Zambia, support community-led development, and create opportunities for young people to learn from one another, share cultures, and drive positive change through sport.
