đŸšș Strengthening women's political participation and representation at local level was the focus of today’s meeting of the Working Group on Gender Equality and Women in Decision-Making. Organized by the OSCE Presence in partnership with UN Women Albania, the event brought together representatives of public institutions, civil society organizations and international partners.

👉 Participants discussed potential legal and practical measures to prevent fictitious candidacies and the resignation of women elected to municipal councils. They also shared ideas for improving gender-responsive political finance within the ongoing electoral reform process.

📌 Since 2017, the OSCE Presence and UN Women Albania have co-hosted this platform, fostering co-operation among local and international actors to promote equal opportunities for women in political and public decision-making in Albania.

PĂ«rfaqĂ«sues tĂ« institucioneve kryesore tĂ« pĂ«rfshira nĂ« zbatimin e ligjit tĂ« ri “PĂ«r parandalimin dhe mbrojtjen nga dhuna ndaj grave dhe dhuna nĂ« familje” u mblodhĂ«n nĂ« tryezĂ«n e organizuar nga Prezenca e OSBE-sĂ« nĂ« bashkĂ«punim me MinistrinĂ« e ShĂ«ndetĂ«sisĂ« dhe tĂ« MirĂ«qenies Sociale.

Diskutimet u përqendruan te roli i gjyqësorit dhe sfidat në zbatimin e kuadrit të ri ligjor. Pjesëmarrësit shqyrtuan progresin e arritur, identifikuan problematikat kryesore dhe shkëmbyen pikëpamje mbi masat e nevojshme për zbatimin efektiv të ligjit.

U vu në dukje edhe nevoja për rritjen e ndërgjegjësimit të qytetarëve, rritjen e kapaciteteve dhe zhvillimin e trajnimeve të posaçme të lidhura me dhunën dixhitale me bazë gjinore.

Tryeza u hap nga zëvendësministrja, Denada Seferi dhe zëvendëskryetarja e Prezencës së OSBE-së, Clarisse Pasztory, të cilat theksuan nevojën për bashkëpunim mes institucioneve në zbatimin e ligjit.

Representatives of key institutions involved in the implementation of the new law “On the prevention and protection from violence against women and domestic violence” gathered at a roundtable organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania in co-operation with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Discussions focused on the role of the judiciary and challenges in implementing the new legal framework. Participants reviewed the progress achieved, identified key challenges and exchanged views on the measures needed to ensure the effective implementation of the law.

They also highlighted the need to increase public awareness, strengthen capacities and develop specialized training related to technology-facilitated gender-based violence.

The roundtable was opened by Deputy Minister Denada Seferi and Deputy Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania Clarisse Pasztory, who emphasized the need for co-operation among institutions in implementing the law.

📌 Strengthening the fight against corruption

👉 Together with the School of Magistrates, the OSCE Presence presented the Manual on Investigation and Adjudication of Public Procurement Offences to judges of the Special Courts and prosecutors from the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK).

📘 Developed in 2025 with the Presence’s support, the Manual provides practical guidance for judges, prosecutors and legal practitioners on identifying, investigating and adjudicating procurement-related offences.

💬 Participants discussed the Manual’s key provisions, procedural guidance, corruption risks in public procurement and relevant national and international practices, with the aim of promoting a more consistent application of procurement legislation and strengthening institutional capacities to prevent and combat corruption.

The roundtable forms part of the OSCE Presence’s broader efforts to strengthen integrity, accountability and institutional oversight in public procurement.
