🚨 REMINDER: AUSALERT NATIONAL TEST TODAY AT 2:00 PM (AEST) 🚨

Today, Monday 27 July 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) will conduct the national test of AusAlert Australia’s new emergency warning system.

🕑 Test Time: 2:00 pm AEST

📱 What to expect

At approximately 2:00 pm, your device may:

* 🔊 Play a loud siren-like warning sound for around 10 seconds, even if it is on Silent or Do Not Disturb.
* 📳 Vibrate to attract your attention.
* 📲 Display a message that clearly states it is a TEST.
* ✅ Require no action on your part.

⚠️ Important to know

This is a Critical Alert, meaning it cannot be disabled in your device settings.

If you believe the alert sound could be distressing, or it may create an unsafe situation (for example, during a presentation, medical appointment or other sensitive environment), you can temporarily place your device into Aeroplane Mode or switch it off for at least an hour before the test and leave it in that mode for an hour afterwards.

That’s perfectly okay you don’t need to do anything.

🚨 REMINDER – AUSALERT NATIONAL TEST TOMORROW 🚨

Australia’s new national emergency warning system, AusAlert, will be tested tomorrow – Monday 27 July 2026.

This is a nationwide test being conducted by the Australian Government to ensure the new emergency alert system is working as intended before it is used during real emergencies.

📅 Test Details

🗓 Date: Monday 27 July 2026
🕑 Time: 2:00 pm (AEST)

📱 What will happen?

At approximately 2:00 pm, compatible mobile phones, smartwatches and tablets connected to Australian mobile networks may receive a TEST AusAlert message.

⚠️ Please don’t be alarmed

This is only a test. The alert will clearly advise that no action is required.

The purpose of the test is to ensure the system can quickly deliver emergency warnings to people who may be at risk during major incidents such as:

* 🔥 Bushfires
* 🌊 Floods
* ⛈️ Severe storms
* 🌪️ Cyclones
* ⚠️ Other life-threatening emergencies

🤝 Help spread the word

If you have family members, neighbours, friends, clients or colleagues who may be concerned by receiving a loud emergency alert, please let them know about tomorrow’s test particularly older Australians, vulnerable community members and anyone who may find unexpected emergency alerts distressing.

By making people aware in advance, we can help reduce unnecessary concern while ensuring everyone understands what to expect.

Isolated damaging winds about a line of showers this evening.

Weather Situation: A moist and unstable airmass combines with a cold front crossing southern New South Wales this evening to produce a line of showers with damaging winds.

Severe showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Albury, Narrandera, Holbrook and Lockhart.

Safety advice

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.

* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.

* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.

* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

For emergency help in flood and storms, ring the SES on 132 500.

Stay updated on the Hazards Near Me NSW app or the ACT ESA website (https://esa.act.gov.au).

Check https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

The next warning is due to be issued by 1:55 am Sunday.

🚨 NATIONAL AUSALERT TEST – MONDAY 27 JULY 2026 🚨

Australia’s new national emergency warning system, AusAlert, will be tested nationwide on Monday 27 July 2026. In NSW, the test alert is scheduled to be sent at 2:00 PM (AEST) to compatible mobile devices across the country.

📱 What can you expect?
• Your phone, smart watch or tablet may receive a Critical AusAlert test message.
• Devices may vibrate and play a loud siren-like warning sound for approximately 10 seconds, even if they are on silent or “Do Not Disturb”.
• The message will clearly state that it is a TEST and that no action is required.

✅ What should you do?
Nothing. This is only a test of the system to ensure it works correctly before it becomes operational later this year. The test will help emergency services and government agencies confirm alerts can be delivered quickly and reliably when lives and property are at risk.

🚨 In a real emergency, AusAlert will be used to provide critical information about threats such as bushfires, floods, severe storms, cyclones and other emergencies, including what actions you should take to stay safe.

NSW SES Albury and Corowa responded to a different type of job this afternoon. Members assisted freeing a cockatoo trapped in fishing line.

This morning, along with our local Albury community, our members paid their respects to our ANZACs.

NSW Albury SES would like to thank our past, present and future military personnel and acknowledge our respects to those who have served with the ultimate sacrifice.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. She shall not weary them, nor the tears condemn. Lest We Forget.

Albury SES would like to thank everyone who have so generously given their change this morning to our members for the annual Good Friday Appeal.

All our members loved having the opportunity to speak to members of our community while raising much needed funds for a worthy cause.
