Word on the street is that the Labor leader refused to face the press pack and answer questions on his ‘flagship’ thought bubble today. Always a good sign! 🤣

A win for the Baird family and commonsense 👍👍

The decision to rip funding from the family of war hero, Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG has just been reversed.

Our collective anger has been heard in Canberra loud and clear.

And should serve as a timely reminder that Tasmanians, and Australians stand by our own.

For all their whinging, we haven’t seen an alternative budget from Labor in 13 years. 4747 days to do the work. To even start it. And yet no one has lifted a finger.

You can be sure of one thing. Dean Winter won’t be taking on the task either.

When it rains, it pours! A second Labor MP has now distanced themselves publicly from Dean Winter.

Senior MP Sarah Lovell has joined Shane Broad in directly contradicting Dean Winter’s grubby attacks by acknowledging the need to deliver savings while continuing record investment in health.

With $264.8m in extra funding for health in this Budget, that’s exactly what we’re doing.

An unbelievable act for Canberra to do this to the family of a Victoria Cross recipient.

An unbelievable act for Canberra to do this to the family of a Victoria Cross recipient.

We should expect better than this.

Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG is an Australian hero.

Serving in the 2nd Commando Regiment, Corporal Baird made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in 2013.

He represents the very best of Australia.

His parents, Doug and Kaye, honour his legacy today, travelling around the country to tell his story in places like schools and RSLs.

They received about $2,800 a year from the Federal Government to offset some of the travel costs.

Well, in the last week Canberra decided to put an end to that.

Cam was a proud son of Tasmania.

His legacy should never be diminished by bureaucratic decisions in Canberra.

We have been in contact with Canberra, and urged in the strongest possible terms that this decision be reversed.

I have seen reports that some fantastic Australians have put their hands up to help.

They understand what it means to honour Cam and the Victoria Cross.

But it should not be left to good Samaritans alone to uphold Cam's memory.

This needs to be fixed by Canberra, right now.

This could be the funniest end to a smear campaign we've seen. In 22 seconds, Shane Broad MP completely destroys his own Party's attempted smear campaign on health and education funding.

"Every year the Government tells us they're investing more in health right? And yes the numbers are going up" - Shane Broad MP.

An extraordinary rebuke of the gutter politics we've seen from Dean Winter today.

Independent Economist Saul Eslake has had his say on today's Budget.

“Treasurer Eric Abetz has made a genuine, serious and for the most part credible attempt to impose some restraint on the Tasmanian Government’s spending and borrowing.

Mr Abetz – unlike his Victorian counterpart – has made a serious effort, in this Budget, to begin the task of putting this state’s finances onto a more sustainable footing.”

Some very strong candidates for worst rebuild of the decade.
