Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS

Mount Lofty Ranges, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of Flinders and Murraylands districts.

Issued at 9:08 am CST on Friday 4 September 2026

Damaging winds possible for parts of southeast SA from early Saturday morning.

Weather Situation: A strong cold front is expected to approach southeastern SA tonight and continue to move east during Saturday morning. Strong northwesterly winds are expected to develop ahead of the system tonight, shifting westerly behind the front around sunrise.

For KANGAROO ISLAND and parts of the SOUTHEAST: DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible from early Saturday morning, most likely in showers and thunderstorms. DAMAGING WINDS are likely to contract to the Lower South East by midday and ease by the late afternoon.

For MOUNT LOFTY and FLINDERS RANGES: DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely from early Saturday morning, easing during the late afternoon.

Locations which may be affected include Mount Gambier, Clare, Murray Bridge, Kingscote, Naracoorte and Keith.

Safety advice
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

Check https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm Australian Central Standard Time Friday.

CFS Station lease arrangements for eight townships.
In accordance with Sec 202 the Local Government Act 1999 Council proposes to renew the leases at the CFS Stations in the townships of Manoora, Marrabel, Rhynie, Saddleworth, Tarlee Waterloo, Watervale, and Clare to the Minister for Emergency Services.
The proposed period of the leases is 21 years, with a right of renewal for a further 21 years.
Copies of the Proposed Leases can be downloaded from Council’s website.

Written submissions on the proposed lease renewals must be received by 5pm Friday 25 September 2026 and can be lodged:
