After more than six years with Relationships Australia – Northern Territory (RA-NT), we will soon be saying farewell to our Director of Practice Quality, Nathalia Perez Alfonso GAICD, as she takes an exciting next step in her career.

We are delighted to congratulate Nathalia on her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Ruby Gaea Darwin Centre Against Sexual Violence Inc.

Nathalia has been a valued member of RA-NT’s senior leadership team, making a significant contribution to the growth and development of our people, services and practice. With a strong background in social work and community services, she has brought a collaborative and people-focused approach to her leadership.

Throughout her time at RA-NT, Nathalia has supported teams through change, strengthened service delivery and helped build the capability of our workforce. Her knowledge of the Northern Territory and its unique service delivery environment has also been invaluable to our organisation and the communities we support.

Her appointment as CEO of Ruby Gaea is a wonderful recognition of Nathalia’s leadership, experience and commitment to the community services sector. While we will be sad to see her leave RA-NT, we are proud to see her take this significant next step and continue contributing to the Northern Territory community.

We thank Nathalia for her outstanding contribution to RA-NT and wish her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter.

Congratulations, Nathalia!

It’s National Child Protection Week.

This year’s theme, Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action, reminds us that creating safe, supportive environments for children and young people is a responsibility we all share.

At Relationships Australia-NT, we believe children and young people deserve to feel safe, heard, valued and supported. Through our work with children, parents, carers and families, we see the difference that strong relationships, listening with care and taking action can make.

This week is an opportunity for all of us to think about how we can turn conversations into meaningful action, whether that’s checking in with a child or family, listening to what children have to say, supporting parents and carers, or helping create communities where every child can thrive.

At RA-NT, our pledge is to protect, support and empower children, value their voices, strengthen families and help every child thrive.

Because every conversation matters and every action can make a difference.

What does it mean to be truly wealthy? For social worker Nathalia Perez Alfonso, the answer has little to do with money. 🧡

Drawing on the Relationships Australia Relationships and Su***de Risk report and her own multicultural journey across Nicaragua, Colombia and now Australia, Nathalia reflects on "relational wealth"—the strength and diversity of our human connections. 🤝

In a world where many people are searching for connection and belonging, communities that embrace difference and bring people together may be one of our greatest sources of wealth. 🌏

🌟 Happy Principals Day! 🌟

Today, Relationships Australia-NT acknowledges and celebrates the incredible principals who lead school communities across the Northern Territory and Australia.

Principals do so much more than lead schools. They help create places where children can feel safe, supported and connected, while supporting teachers, staff, families and the wider community.

We recognise the care, resilience and commitment this role requires, particularly for those leading schools in our regional and remote communities.

To all principals, thank you for the important contribution you make to the lives of children, families and communities every day.

Sometimes, the best connection starts with a simple question.

Starting a conversation with someone new can feel daunting, but a small moment of curiosity can open the door to meaningful connection.

Together, Ending Loneliness Together and Neighbours Every Day have created conversation cards designed to help spark a conversation to share interests and learn more about one another, which can be used in one-on-one chats or group conversations.

Try asking:
🌟 What has been the highlight of your week so far?
🍝 What's a food you could eat every day?
📺 Is there a Netflix or TV series you'd recommend?
🌏 Is there a place you'd love to explore one day?

For more inspiration download the set of Conversation Cards at:https://neighbourseveryday.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/LAW-2026-Conversation-Cards.pdf and start a conversations today. 💙
