Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Every older person deserves to feel safe, respected, valued and heard. Sadly, elder abuse can happen in many forms, including financial, emotional, psychological, physical and social abuse often by someone the older person knows and trusts.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an opportunity to raise awareness, start conversations and stand together to protect the rights, dignity and wellbeing of older people in our communities.

Relationships Australia-NT provides free and confidential Elder Abuse Prevention and Support Services, offering information, support, advocacy and referrals for older people experiencing abuse, as well as family members, friends and professionals seeking guidance.

If you are concerned about elder abuse, whether for yourself or someone you know, you don't have to face it alone. Support is available.

Together, we can create communities where older people are safe, respected and empowered.

Today, on Thank a First Responder Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated first responders who serve our communities across the Northern Territory.

Whether responding to emergencies, providing critical care, protecting our communities, or offering support during times of crisis, your courage, compassion and commitment make a difference every day.

At Relationships Australia-NT, we recognise the unique challenges first responders face and the important role they play in supporting the wellbeing and safety of Territorians.

Thank you for your service, sacrifice and unwavering dedication. 🧡

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week.

This year’s theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to work together toward a more just, equitable and reconciled future. It reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility and meaningful change happens when we each play our part.

At Relationships Australia-NT, we are committed to building respectful relationships, listening to First Nations voices and creating culturally safe and inclusive spaces for our communities.

This week is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and consider how we can all be part of reconciliation in action.

We’re All In.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We remember and reflect on the pain and trauma experienced by the Stolen Generations, their families and communities and recognise the ongoing impacts that continue today.

At Relationships Australia-NT, we are committed to listening, learning and walking alongside First Nations peoples in the spirit of truth-telling, healing and reconciliation.

National Sorry Day is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared history and consider the role we each play in building respectful relationships and a more just future.

This National Families Week, Relationships Australia-NT is proud to celebrate the important role families play in supporting children to feel safe, connected and valued. đź’›

Families come in many forms and every family deserves support, respect and opportunities to thrive. Across the Northern Territory, we are proud to be celebrating every family, everywhere and recognising the care, strength and connection families provide to children and young people every day.

Strong and supportive relationships help children build resilience, confidence and a sense of belonging. Whether it’s through listening, sharing time together, offering encouragement, or simply being present, families are at the heart of children’s wellbeing and development.

At Relationships Australia-NT, we recognise the strength and diversity of families and the vital role they play in helping children grow and flourish. 🌱

Our hearts are with the Alice Springs community following the tragic events last week.

At times like this, the impact is felt far and wide — by families, by communities and by those working closely to support them. We extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected and especially to those in Alice Springs.

Relationships Australia-NT is mobilising additional counsellors to travel to Alice Springs to provide support on the ground and assist the community during this incredibly difficult time.

We also want to remind individuals, families and organisations that support is available. Our counselling services and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are here to help anyone who may be struggling or impacted.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out, you don’t have to navigate this alone.

📣 Last chance to register 📣

Infant Attachment and Cross-Cultural Application in Family Relationships is on this coming Tuesday and Wednesday in Alice Springs and a few places are still available.

This is rare, genuinely specialist training: grounded in both evidence-based attachment science and First Nations knowledge systems, facilitated by two of Australia's leading practitioners in this space.

If you work with families, children or in the family law sector this is the kind of training that changes how you see and respond to the families in front of you.
