Men's Health Week 2026 is this week! 15 - 21 June.

The 2026 campaign centres on the theme "101 Reasons to See Your GP," which aims to encourage men and boys to prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing by seeking early medical advice when something doesn't feel right.

The campaign website is packed with awesome information that can help remove barriers and get advice sooner.

We recently hosted a Spotlight on Hospitality event at the Burnie Central Townhouse Hotel.

This event connected jobseekers with hospitality employment opportunities on the north west coast. We had 65 people attending and 10 exhibitors promoting their businesses and the industry, and a few attendees walked away with employment prospects!

Thank you to everyone who came along, especially Parklands High School and our amazing vendors:
OneCare
Communion Brewing Co
Tas TAFE

Wings Wildlife Park - Tasmania
McDonalds

Last week our Integrated Family Support Services team held two free movie screenings across Burnie and Devonport for National Families Week. The families in attendance had a great time and were each given a goodie bag on the way out. The YFCC team also offered information on local services and organisations that are dedicated to helping families thrive.

This is what some of the parents had to say about the importance of family:
“I think it’s really important to spend as much time together as you can. Embrace the chaos.”
“The importance of family is spending time with the grandchildren.”
“The importance of family is connection, having family time, and spending time together.”
“The importance of family is that everyone is connected and valued and work together”.

It's National Volunteer Week!

YFCC would like to acknowledge the crucial role volunteers play in our local communities. Volunteering Tasmania estimates that there are over 36,000 volunteers located in the North West of Tasmania. That’s over 30% of the NW population dedicated to helping our communities thrive.

Thank you to the amazing volunteers that are making a difference on the north west coast!

This week is Families Week!

YFCC’s Family Support Services team aims to promote the safety, stability and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. Part of the way we achieve this is through our membership of the North West Integrated Family Support Service (IFSS) and Helping Young Families programs. We work with families to identify their strengths and identify positive and sustainable solutions to challenges they may be facing. We do this through:

Advocacy
Case management
Conflict resolution
Community education
Referrals to relevant services
Parenting skill development
Building resilience & providing coping strategies

The YFCC Youth Accommodation Service recently received an incredible $10,000 donation from The Sincs and Bilko Show, who raised the funds at their amazing motocross stunt show earlier this year.

This money will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the young people we work alongside. Contributions like these help us provide additional opportunities, resources and experiences to support our young people to feel safe, connected and supported as they navigate challenging circumstances.

We are humbled and grateful to The Sincs and Bilko Show for their generosity and support.
