134 calls for Dubbo Brigade in 2025.

2025 ended on 31/12/25 with two calls for Smoke in the Vicinity and 2026 begun at 4:45am 01/01/26 with a MVA Persons Trapped.

2025 had all measure of jobs from assist ambulance to bush, grass, structure fires and aircraft incidents.

The year saw the first Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating declared in NSW for 2 years, the Emergency Warning Dunedoo Rd Fire, the Western Star Structure Fire and the delivery of the new Dubbo 1A.

What the number of calls won't show is the countless hours behind the scenes that our members have dedicated to other activities such as training and maintenance.

We'd like to that a moment to thank all our members and their families for their time and effort over the year and look forward to an excellent 2026.

The Thanks from members of the public mean an unquantifiable amount to our Firefighters.
We do what we do to help the community, these acts of support during operations and thanks are the icing on the cake.

APPRECIATION POST

In recent days we have seen tremendous efforts from community members, and we thank you all again for your support. We would like to give a few special mentions:
• Duane Hartas and Vandermaal Earthmoving for your work in land clearing and creating access for our appliances.
• Peter Edward for supplying your water cart.
• Jones Honey and Andy & Alex for generously dropping off additional food and drinks at the Boothenba Station (staging area).

We are sure there are many more, and we apologise to anyone we may have missed. Your support does not go unnoticed during these busy times.

A busy few days for Dubbo.

Friday, 5th December 2025 saw Dubbo 1A deployed to the Garlings Trail, Goonoo fire to continue blacking out and strengthen containment lines along with Dubbo 6. Around lunch time the three waterbombing helicopters supporting the Goonoo Fire were redeployed to the Dunedoo fire along with Dubbo 1A and several other appliances, which rapidly escalated to Watch and Act then an Emergency Warning Fire.

Dubbo 1A along with Dubbo 1B, multiple Orana District Brigades, aircraft, Fire and Rescue NSW and a RFS Strike Team from Sydney worked hard to slow the spread of the fire, protect property and gain the upper hand to contain the fire. Unfortunately the fire did severely impact a wooden railway bridge.
Attached is the latest community newsletter for both the Garlings Trail and Dunedoo Rd Fire.

Around 7:30pm Dubbo 1A was responded from the Dunedoo Rd fire to an unknown fire in West Dubbo but was stood down enroute.

Around 5am Saturday 6th December 2025 Dubbo 1A and Orana 13 were responded back to the Dunedoo Rd fire to assist with Flare ups until scheduled day crews arrived to take over.

4pm Saturday afternoon Dubbo 1A, 1B and 6 were responded to a Grass Fire on Rosedale road. On arrival it was found the landholder was able to extinguish the fire quickly.

A busy first few days for the new appliance.

The Garlings Trail fire in the Goonoo Forest is now listed as contained.
However crews will remain on site for the coming days due to deteriorating weather conditions expected over the weekend.

It took considerable effort from local brigades, heavy plant, aircraft and out of area strike teams to reach this result.

We'd like to extend a thank you to those Strike Teams for giving up a week of their time, travelling many hours to assist and give a break to local crews.
These strike teams came from the Central Coast, Sydney and Southern Tablelands.

They included:
Beacon Hill
South Katoomba
Wauchope
Scotts head
Aldaville
Wamboin
Telegraph point
North Shore
Beechwood
Sancrox
Ingleside
Davidson
Ku-ring-gai

Apologies if we missed anyone, feel free to tag them in a comment, facebook isn't letting us tag Brigades.

Today Dubbo took delivery of a new Category 1 Heavy Tanker, replacing Dubbo 1 Alpha.

Dubbo 1 Alpha has served with Dubbo Rural Fire Brigade since June 2010 and has been the main appliance for Dubbo for years. This has been well documented on this page with many appearances on posts and photos.

The new Tanker comes with the latest safety features and some new pieces of gear such as the water monitor on the front of the bullbar and even electronic water level monitoring for the main tank that's visible in the cab.

Crew spend most of today stocking the new Dubbo 1 Alpha to get it ready to serve Dubbo and the wider community.

Dubbo 1 Alpha will be missed.

Now to see if the new Dubbo 1 Alpha can live up to the name.

A busy day for Dubbo 6.

At 10:50am Dubbo was paged to a Grass Fire on The Falls Road, The grass fire attracted several repeat calls for the job resulting in Burrabadine, Minore, Narromine head quarters rural fire service, Cumboogle Rural Fire Brigade and NSW RFS- Terramungamine Brigade being paged. Crews with assistance from landowners and heavy plant were able to quickly contain the fire.

Whilst returning to the station, Dubbo 6 responded to a structure fire on Kurrajong Road along with NSW RFS Eulomogo and Dubbo Fire Station. Crews found a smouldering wooden floor in a shed and were able to successfully extinguish.

As Dubbo 6 had just picked up lunch, they then responded to a AFA with smoke showing at Dubbo Airport along with Dubbo Fire Station, Burrabadine RFB and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 284 Delroy. Crews discovered a cigarette butt had been tossed into a dry storm drain with leaf litter, the leaf litter ignited and the wind pushed smoke through the storm drain system and into the airport terminal giving the look of smoke issuing from the roof.
