A truly inspiring journey from Vania, starting from fruit picking to becoming a Facilities and Accommodation Supervisor at Mountford Berries. Stories like this show how dedication, hard work, and courage can open new doors and create real change, not only for individuals but also for families back home 🇹🇱.

We are proud to see Timorese workers continuing to grow, lead, and inspire others in Tasmania. Your journey is a powerful reminder that every small step can lead to something greater.

Well done, Vania, you are a true role model! 👏🇹🇱

Our Timorese workers from Murrakei Farms have successfully completed lifesaving support training delivered by St John Tasmania - Timor Leste Project. In addition to the training, each participant received a first aid kit for daily use and to take home with them.

This important initiative was organised by the Murrakei leadership team. Congratulations to all the workers for their participation and commitment to building these essential lifesaving skills, supporting safety and emergency preparedness.

We hope to see this training extended to other companies: Tasmanian Berries, Mountford Berries, Piñata Farms, Hillwood Berries Farmgate, Costa Berries, Burlington Berries Pty Ltd, and others.

Thank you for joining us on ANZAC Day for the first time, Piñata Farms. We look forward to welcoming you again next year.

Ten of our Timor-Leste seasonal workers based at our Orielton, Tasmanian farm were proud to join the ANZAC Day march in Hobart on Saturday to honour the friendship that Timor Leste has with Australia, specifically with veterans since World War II and through the presence of the International Force East Timor from 1999 to 2000. Honorary Vice-Consul for Timor-Leste in Tasmania, Eoin Breen invited 10 workers to join other Timor-Leste workers based in Tasmania following a recent visit to our farm from the Timor-Leste a

2nd post of ANZAC Day Parade and Solemn Ceremony at Cenotaph.

This year marks the 111th anniversary of the battle in World War One which is what we commemorate on Anzac Day. Timorese have been involved in Hobart’s Anzac Day since 2015 when veterans from Timor-Leste war came to Tasmania as guests of the RSL. That program has finished so each year we organise Timorese workers to follow the veterans footsteps. In 2015 there was only a handful of Timorese in the state, now there are over 1000 workers here and we expect these numbers to grow.

Thank you very much to the 135 workers for your outstanding and respectful participation.

Tasmania, 25/04/2026, Professor Nitin Verma and Dr Anu Verma, Honorary Consul for Timor-Leste in Tasmania, and Mr Eoin Christopher Breen, Deputy Honorary Consul together with Timorese workers and student stood in remembrance and unity on ANZAC Day. We proudly joined the solemn ceremony in Hobart to honour the sacrifices of those who served and to reflect on the enduring shared history between Timor-Leste and Australia.

With over 135 dedicated Timorese workers from seven farms joining us today. They are from Murrakei Farms at Red Hills; Burlington Berries Pty Ltd at Cressy; Tasmanian Berries at Exton; Hillwood Berries Farmgate at Beauty Point; Mountford Berries at Perth and for the first time this year workers from Sunray Berries at Ouse and Piñata Farms at Orielton. Each participant stood as a true ambassador of Timor-Leste, demonstrating dignity and pride throughout the parade and ceremony.

We concluded the ceremony with a fraternity lunch at the Youth Arts & Recreation Centre from Hobart City Council with catering generously provided by Saffron Restaurant.

We were also honoured by the presence of Acting Mayor of Hobart, Dr Zelinda Sherlock, Mrs Helen Burnet, Independent Member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly, and Mr Vica Bayley, Tasmanian Greens member for the House of Assembly. It was a privilege to have them join us and engage with these young Timorese workers who are making a meaningful contribution to the Tasmanian economy in fruit industry.

LEST WE FORGET.
