The library has a specialised collection with resources relating to raising children from pregnancy right through to the complex teen years. Our 'Parenting Collection' is useful if you need information on a variety of parenting related topics such as co-parenting, mum hacks, activities for toddlers, and tiny humans/big emotions.
Recently added to the collection are these two new books on how to deal to effectively control screen time from toddlers to teens.
Australia's favourite parenting author Maggie Dent, and top online safety expert Kirra Pendergast bring you '๐๐ช๐จ๐ช๐ต๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฎ', a no-nonsense guide with advice for parents on issues such as; when and how to give your kids a smartphone, how do algorithms, digital footprints and AI really work?, how can families use social media without sacrificing privacy and security and what to do if your child is being bullied or exploited online.
It cuts through the confusion and delivers practical tools and expert advice to help parents manage their family device use.
'๐๐ค๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐๐ช๐ด๐ฆ' by Madonna King shows you how to take back control to usher your children safely and confidently into the future. Madonna has interviewed hundreds of parents, children, educators, medical experts and scientist and has presented this valuable research with actionable tips and advice such as; how to say 'no' and set boundaries, the link between instant gratification and screen addiction, and how to help kids develop good friendship skills and an identity off-line.
Both books are now available for loan. Library staff are also happy to help you locate other resources in the 'Parenting Collection'.
