Planned Burn - D'Aguilar National Park, Mount Archer area
Applies: 14—20 April 2026
Published: 13 April 2026 12:09pm
This alert applies to the following park: D'Aguilar National Park
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a planned burn in D’Aguilar National Park near Mount Archer on Tuesday 14th through to Monday 20th April 2026 weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. As a result, smoke may be seen in the Kilcoy, Woodford, Westvale, Delaney's Creek and Somerset Dam area.
The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration. Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions. Please observe signage, barriers, do not enter closed areas and follow direction from rangers. Safety is our concern but your responsibility. For more information, please call The Gap office of QPWS on 07 3164 3600.
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
For your safety please use caution whilst visiting the park.
Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.
