We’re thrilled to annouce The Family Centre has been selected as one of the charity beneficiaries of this year’s Stone & Wood Community Open Day!

This family-friendly event will bring the community together for a great day out, with proceeds shared between The Family Centre and two other local charities.

We’ve also invited the Murwillumbah Red Cross to join us with a delicious cake stall, with all proceeds from the stall going directly to The Family Centre.

Come along, enjoy the day and help support local children, young people and families.

Wednesday 9 September | 9.30am–11.30am

Local services, community groups and organisations are invited to host a stall at this year’s Teddy Bears Picnic, celebrating National Child Protection Week.

This year’s theme is Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action, focusing on turning important conversations about children’s wellbeing into practical, everyday actions that build safer communities and stronger support systems.

Stallholders are asked to provide a free children’s activity—something simple, fun and engaging for children and families to enjoy.

Feel free to share this invitation with other organisations that may be interested in joining us.

The Family Centre are so happy to be brining Chair Yoga to the Murwillumbah Community Centre.

Chair Yoga & Coffee is coming to the Murwillumbah Community Centre!

You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to be fit. You don't need Lycra, a yoga mat, or any idea what you're doing. 🧘‍♀️☕

You just need to show up, sit down, and see how it feels.

Chair Yoga & Coffee is for you if you've thought about moving more but never found anywhere that felt right. It's for you if your body's a bit stiffer than it used to be, or your balance isn't what it was, or you've been managing pain and just want something gentle. It's for you if the mornings feel a bit long and you'd love an excuse to get out of the house and see some friendly faces.

There's no performance here. No mirrors, no judgement, no one watching to see if you're doing it "right." Every single movement has an easier option, and if you'd rather just sit and watch this week, that's completely fine too. Come as you are, move as much or as little as feels good, and stay for a proper cuppa and a chat afterwards.

That's honestly the whole point. Not to push you. Just to give you somewhere warm and welcoming to be, once a week, with people who are glad you came. 💛

The first session is free, then each session is only $10 including coffee - so there's really nothing to lose. Come and see for yourself.
