SWIM THE EAST PILBARA
955km Virtual Swim Challenge!

In just 24 hours, Newman pool goers have completed 8.4km!
Taking them to Martumili.

Martumili Art Centre is one of Australia's leading First Nations art centres, established in 2006 by Martu people from communities including Parnpajinya (Newman), Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu, Kunawarritji, Irrungadji, and Warralong. Grounded in the knowledge, culture, and economic outcomes across the largest art centre footprint in the country. Martumili's reputation is based on artistic excellence, cultural programming and strong community relationships.
High quality materials, cultural, documentation, and Martu-led On-Country activities contribute to the artistic excellence that has become synonymous with Martumili. This focus enables the art centre to successfully negotiate ambitious creative opportunities with national and international networks. Annually, nearly 300 artists produce work, with a core group of 40 artists generating around 70% of anual artwork sales.

Meet Tige, one of our great Lifeguards we have here at Newman Aquatic Centre, joining the team in 2025!

🌊 Why Tige enjoys the Aquatic Centre... He loves working with his mates! making coming to work easier. Tige enjoys encouraging others to work safe and smart!

➡️ When Tige isn't working, you'll find him... Remixing music to create new tunes, he also enjoys manufacturing music from scratch!

Fun Fact... Tige has been a St Kilda fan since birth
