Scoring Goals: 84 Years of Orange Netball

From the dusty courts of the 1940s to the high-performance era of today, the heartbeat of Orange sport is finally being captured in print!!!

This Thursday 20 August Orange City Library will host the official launch of Scoring Goals: 84 Years of Orange Netball at 5.30pm - 7pm.

The book, which has been two years in the making, is a deep dive into the triumphs, the mud, and the many generations of families who have worn the Orange colours.

The event will welcome local legend Marianne McCormick who will be on hand for book signings and photos. Copies of Scoring Goals: 84 Years of Orange Netball will be for sale on the night.

BOOK WEEK STORIES AFTER DARK - COMING SOON

Come along to Orange City Library as part of CBCA BOOK WEEK with a special evening of stories and music!!! on Thursday 27 August at 5.30pm.

Enjoy some books, build cubby houses with blankets and read by torchlight when we turn out the lights in the Library. Toys can have a sleepover in the Library and see what the books get up to after dark.

Things to bring along with you:
*A teddy or soft toy that is brave enough to stay overnight (perhaps not your favourite one!)
* a shoebox to make a bed for your toy
* a big blanket to help build your cubby
* a torch to read by

Things you'll get to do:
* decorate your shoebox to make a special bed for your teddy
* read stories in your cubby house
* enjoy listening to some relaxing music
* select some treats from the library tea trolley

Stories, bed, decorating supplies and treats will be supplied.

This activity is designed for children of all ages. Please note:
Children aged 6 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Children between 7 and 12 years of age must be signed in and out if their parent/caregiver is not staying for the duration of the event.

Robot Responders: Design a Robot Competition!!!

Come and design a robot to enter in the CSIRO Robot Responders competition. We will be meeting at Orange City Library on Thursday 20 August at 4pm.

CSIRO is offering prizes for the best robot designs as part of Science Week! Celebrating all things science and technology!!! There are multiple missions to choose from - design your robot to succeed. Can be models, diagrams, or drawings!! Materials provided.

This activity is for ages 8+, and most suitable for children in the later years of primary school or older. Children under the age of 12 must be signed in by an adult.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced researcher, Central West Libraries has a range of resources to help you on your research journey.

At Orange there are Orange Family History Group volunteers to assist with your research questions each Friday from 10am to 3pm. Come in and visit,or send an email to:

While in our libraries you can access records including Births, Deaths and Marriages, Passenger Lists and Military Records via free access to Find My Past or Ancestry.com.

There is no time like the present to begin your family history research.

Robot Responders Card Game: Science Week!!!

As part of Science Week, celebrating science and technology, come and play Robot Responders - a card game developed by CSIRO to learn about engineering, robotics, and problem solving. Collect cards, complete missions, and modify your robot to succeed.

It is a one-off event - come and play a card game, learn about robotics, and solve engineering problems. Join in the fun on Friday 21 August at 4pm.

For ages 8+. Children under the age of 12 must be signed in by an adult.
