What a wonderful way to spend part of the day at The Willows Pre School and Early Learning Centre after receiving a very special handmade invitation from the children themselves! 😊🎨

It was fantastic to see firsthand the amazing work being done by the dedicated staff, who create such a positive environment focused on play based learning, nature play, community connection and child-led development. The energy, creativity and confidence of the children was incredible to see. 🌿🧸📚

I was even invited to sit in a very important “big chair” while the children proudly introduced themselves and shared some very entertaining stories with me — I’m still not sure whether I was there as Mayor or as the class student for the morning! 😂🪑

I also quickly learnt that the children take the classroom rules very seriously, with several little supervisors politely reminding me that shoes had to come off before stepping onto the rug! Safe to say I was kept well in line during the visit 👞➡️🧦😂

To top it all off, two of the students had even created a cut out version of me from a photograph — which may have been slightly better behaved than the real one! 😄✂️

A huge congratulations also to the centre on their outstanding success at the Orange Show over the weekend, taking home several awards. A well-deserved recognition of the passion and care that goes into everything they do. 👏🏆

Thank you to everyone at The Willows for the warm welcome and for the important role you play in helping shape the next generation. 🌟

🩸 Today I rolled up my sleeves to donate plasma as part of the Local Government Blood Drive, and it feels great knowing that one donation can help save lives. ❤️💪

I was also pleased to be on hand to support Councillor Frances Kinghorne and our wonderful council staff who stepped up to give blood and plasma for this important cause.

A huge credit to everyone who volunteered to give it a go. Every donation truly counts and can make a real difference for someone in need.

If you’re able, I encourage you to book a donation — it’s a simple act that can have a lifesaving impact.

A big thank you as well to all council staff who unselfishly donated in support of the Local Government Blood Drive. Community spirit like this makes me incredibly proud. 👏🩸

What a fantastic and unforgettable experience stepping well and truly out of my comfort zone this weekend as part of The Rocky Horror Show production! 🎭💃

As Mayor, I’m usually more comfortable behind a lectern than under stage lights — but somehow I found myself on stage as a narrator… and apparently also debuting some very “unique” dance moves! 🕺😂 I’m not sure the choreography team will be calling me anytime soon, but I can confidently say the audience got value for entertainment!

A huge congratulations to the incredibly talented cast, musicians, singers, dancers and production crew who put on such an energetic and outstanding performance. The passion and talent on display was absolutely remarkable.

And a very special thank you to the wardrobe staff for their “creative” costume selection for me… I’m still recovering emotionally, but I must admit, it certainly added to the Rocky Horror spirit! 😆👠

Thank you to everyone involved for making it such a fun and memorable night. Community theatre and the arts continue to bring people together in the best possible way.

It was a great honour to be invited, as Mayor of Orange, together with local state member Philip Donato, to speak at the commissioning service for Rev’d Ben Mackay at St Barnabas, Orange East this weekend. ⛪️🔔

Events like this are a wonderful reminder of the important role faith communities play in bringing people together through compassion, care, fellowship and service. It was a pleasure to warmly welcome Rev’d Ben, Bron and their children to Orange and to acknowledge the positive contribution they will make to our community in the years ahead.

Orange is a city built on connection, kindness and community spirit, and institutions such as St Barnabas continue to play a vital role in supporting and strengthening those values.

Congratulations to Rev’d Ben Mackay on this important and joyful occasion, and best wishes as you begin this new chapter serving the people of Orange East and the wider community.

It was a wonderful honour this evening to officially open the 40 Years, 40 Works exhibition celebrating 40 years of the Orange Regional Gallery.

This remarkable exhibition not only showcases outstanding works of art, but also reflects the incredible journey of the gallery over the past four decades — a journey built on creativity, culture, connection and community. 🎨✨

The Orange Regional Gallery has become such an important part of our city, championing local artists, welcoming national and international voices and creating a space where people can learn, reflect, feel inspired and connect through art.

It was fantastic to see so many people attending tonight’s opening and celebrating the important role the gallery continues to play in the cultural life of Orange. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this special exhibition together, including the dedicated gallery staff, artists, supporters and volunteers whose passion and commitment continue to ensure the gallery remains vibrant and relevant for future generations. 👏

I have no doubt the next 40 years will continue to bring new ideas, conversations and artistic excellence to our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening and I encourage everyone to visit and enjoy this outstanding exhibition.

It was a fantastic day in Sydney attending the Rural and Regional Summit and the Country Mayors Conference alongside local government leaders from across New South Wales. 🏛️🇦🇺

The summit delivered a range of excellent presentations and insightful discussions focused on the opportunities and challenges facing our rural and regional communities. It was encouraging to hear from such outstanding speakers who are passionate about strengthening regional Australia and ensuring communities like ours continue to thrive into the future. 🌾🚜🌏

A real highlight of the day was attending the Country Mayors Reception Dinner at Parliament House. It was a privilege to meet and speak with Sir Peter Cosgrove and hear his thoughts on leadership, service and community. 🤝✨

Events like these are incredibly valuable in building strong connections, sharing ideas and advocating for the future of regional communities. I look forward to bringing back many positive ideas and conversations for our community. 🍊

I’m thrilled (and maybe just a little nervous! 😄) to share that I’ll be stepping into the role of Guest Narrator for the iconic The Rocky Horror Show on May 9 at the Orange Civic Theatre! 🎭

This is such a legendary production, and I feel incredibly honoured to be part of it alongside a truly talented cast of actors, artists, and singers who have been working tirelessly to bring this show to life. The energy, creativity, and passion behind the scenes have been amazing to see — and it’s clear this is going to be something very special.

It’s been fantastic to watch the excitement building in our community, with so many of you already getting behind the show. Tickets are moving quickly, and we’re shaping up for a strong opening weekend, which means so much to everyone involved. Let’s keep that momentum going and aim for sold-out performances across the entire run! 🙌

If you’re looking for a night of fun, laughter, music, and a little bit of madness… this is it. I can’t wait to see you there and share in what promises to be an unforgettable experience!

It was a true privilege to attend the April/May 2026 Graduation Ceremony at Charles Sturt University, held at Banksia in Orange 🎓

I was pleased to be joined by Orange City Council CEO, Scott Maunder, for this special occasion as we celebrated the achievements of so many outstanding graduates.

To witness the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and perseverance was incredibly inspiring. These graduates are not only stepping into the next chapter of their lives, but into roles where they will make a real and positive difference across their chosen fields and communities 🌏

Charles Sturt continues to provide outstanding education and opportunities, equipping students with the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to succeed. The strength of this institution is reflected in the calibre of its graduates — confident, capable and ready to contribute meaningfully to society.

Congratulations to each and every graduate. Your future is bright, and our community is stronger because of you 👏
