Plant-Based for the Planet.

Research shows that meat and dairy products are fueling the climate crisis, while plant-based diets - focused on fruits, vegetables, grains, and beans - help protect the planet.

Shifting your diet to plant-based diets has a high potential for reducing carbon footprints and mitigating climate change, as well as improving human health.

Some top plant-based diets include:

〰️ Beans, lentils, chickpeas and tofu
〰️ Fruits and vegetables
〰️ Oats, nuts and seeds
〰️ Veggie burgers
〰️ Soy, almond or oat milk

Shrink Your Footprint at school 👣

In partnership with Coonamble Shire Council and Outback Arts, our Environmental Learning Advisor, Bill delivered a Waste 2 Art “Shrink Your Footprint” workshop at Quambone Public School recently.

The students got to take part in getting creative with recycled materials or materials that would normally end up as waste to make works of art.

The workshop focused on helping students understand what waste is, where it goes, and how waste can be reduced, reused, and recycled within their local community.

Combining creative learning with practical waste education, it’s an opportunity to shine a spotlight on Waste 2 Art and reinforce environmental behaviours within our community 🎨♻️

Bringing Waste 2 Art to the big stage.

Check out this happy snap of our Environmental Learning Advisor, Bill Tink, and our Regional Projects Coordinator, Ant Cullen-Ward.

This week, they're representing NetWaste at the Coffs Waste Conference, and showcasing Waste 2 Art with a selection of finalist arts from the 2025 Waste 2 Art exhibition 'The Year of Toys'.

The yearly Waste 2 Art exhibition inspires communities across Regional NSW to transform reused and recyclable materials into imaginative works of art.

Bill and Ant hope to inspire other industry colleagues and communities to start creating and repurposing waste.

They've also brought with them a very special repurposed artwork of Costa Georgiadis. If you're at the conference, check it out for yourself in the Sandpiper/Kestral room.

Ant will be speaking today at the conference about Regional Procurement and Contracting for Local Councils.
