Inclusion Agency book suggestion

Told in English and Dharug, Open Your Heart to Country by Jasmine Seymour is a moving account of re-connection to Country from a First Nations perspective. Sharing the nourishing power of returning home and being immersed in the language of Country, this picture book invites readers to reflect on the importance of place, not only for First Nations’ peoples but for everyone.

Reconciliation week commences tomorrow, Wednesday 27th May - 3rd June 2026 and this year's theme is 'All In'. The theme is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. It emphasises that reconciliation is not passive, does not happen by itself, and is the responsibility of everyone—not just Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The official 2026 artwork, titled Gaagal (the Gumbaynggirr word for Ocean), was created by Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey. It uses the ocean as a metaphor for people from all walks of life swirling together to be "all in" for reconciliation.

Reading connects us all: be part of the story!

Libraries Tasmania is celebrating Tasmania Reads from Sunday 22 to Saturday 28 March 2026.

Tasmania Reads is an annual week-long celebration of reading and stories in all forms, now in its fourth year. The week is filled with fun reading inspired events and activities for all ages at libraries, schools and organisations across Tasmania.
Be part of the story by attending an event, including author talks, book launches, children’s storytime, pop-ups at community events and more. You can even create and run your own event or activity.
