This afternoon we had a special visitor from the Police Rescue Unit. Mr Jervis showed us the truck and special equipment used in tricky rescue operations. 🚔👮🏼‍♀️⛑️🛟
We asked him a lot of clever questions and some of us got to feel the weight of the heavy armour that Mr Jervis wears to protect himself, while others took turns sitting up in the truck. 🤩 I have a feeling that some students may have a new ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ answer, if asked around the dinner table tonight.
Thank you, Mr Jervis! What a great experience.

✨ A NIGHT TO CELEBRATE OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP! ✨

Congratulations, Mrs Sweetman! 🌿💙

I was incredibly proud and privileged to attend the Metropolitan South & West Principal Network Awards Ceremony to celebrate the wonderful achievement of Mrs Sweetman, who was recognised for Excellence in Educational Leadership.

This award is a wonderful acknowledgement of her passion, leadership and tireless work in Aboriginal Education — championing culture, strengthening connections and creating greater opportunities for Aboriginal students, families and communities. 🌿

And what made the evening even more special was celebrating alongside our Menai High neighbours, with Mrs Walker also recognised for her outstanding contribution to her school and community. 💙

Two exceptional educators. Two incredibly deserving recognitions. One very proud celebration of public education. ❤️

Nights like this remind us of the incredible difference passionate educators make — leading with purpose, serving their communities and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.

We’re so excited to reveal another incredible prize in our Father’s Day Raffle, with a total prize pool worth OVER $1,500! 🎟️

💚 FATHER’S DAY STALL IS NOW OPEN! 💚

Our Father’s Day Stall is back on Tuesday 1st September!

This year, students will get to visit the stall with their class and choose the items for their pre-purchased pack making their gift for Dad, Grandad or someone special that little bit more personal. 🥰

We have a range of themed packs available from $5–$15, and every pack includes a gift bag + Father’s Day card ready to take home.

☀️ Friday Sport in the Sunshine! 🏀⚽️

3/4A, 3/4K, 3/4L and 4C joined together for a fantastic morning of school sport today! Students had plenty of activities to choose from, including skipping, soccer, T-ball, basketball, football, frisbee, obstacle course and lots of fun games.

It was great to see everyone getting active, trying different activities and enjoying the beautiful sunshine with their friends! ☀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🎶💃 SSSMF Junior Concert 🎤✨

On Tuesday and Wednesday, our Year 2 dancers, Junior Choir and Junior Comperes proudly represented Tharawal at the Sutherland Shire Schools Music Festival, taking part in the rehearsal, matinee and evening concert.

A lovely moment came after the concert when an audience member approached me to ask who our dance teacher was. They shared how much they loved the dance, particularly the changing formations that gave each row of dancers an opportunity to shine at the front. It was such a lovely compliment and a wonderful recognition of our students and Miss Danielle! 🌟 Menai Dance Centre
