πŸš’ BEHIND THE SCENES πŸš’

This morning, we were joined by Corindi Rural Fire Brigade and their newest trainees for some hands-on training ahead of the Basic Firefighter Course.

The focus for the morning was draughting, giving the trainees the opportunity to learn the setup and operation of both the Cat 7 and Cat 9, while getting familiar with the equipment and putting their skills into practice.

It was a great morning of practical training and a valuable opportunity for our newest members to build the skills and confidence they’ll take with them into the Basic Firefighter Course.

⚠️ BUSH FIRE DANGER PERIOD IS APPROACHING ⚠️

The Bush Fire Danger Period commences 1st September.

Planning to burn before then? Remember, you still need to:

β€’ Notify your adjoining neighbours and the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before burning.

β€’ Ensure weather conditions are suitable and the fire can be safely managed.

This can be done quickly and easily online using the NSW RFS β€œNotify Me” system.

🚨 If you fail to notify, fire crews may respond unnecessarily and penalties may apply.

From 1st September, a fire permit will also be required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period.

Permits are free and can be obtained through your local NSW RFS Fire Control Centre or local brigade permit officer.

In an emergency, every second counts.

Make sure your property entrance is clearly signed, easy to identify from the road, and fitted with visible property numbers at the main gate or fence line.

This is especially important in rural and semi-rural areas where properties can be difficult to locate at night, in smoke, or during fast moving bush fires.

Clear property identification helps firefighters reach you faster when it matters most.

Take a few minutes to check your signage and ensure your property can be easily identified in an emergency. It could save valuable time when help is on the way.

🌿 Hazard Reduction Burn – Bucca 🌿

Today we were out at Bucca assisting with a hazard reduction burn on Randalls Road.

It was great to work alongside crews that we don’t usually get the opportunity to work with and see everyone come together to get the job done. πŸš’

πŸš’ BEHIND THE SCENES πŸš’

Back out training this afternoon with our newest member as they continue preparing for their Basic Firefighter Course.

After getting familiar with the Cat 1 last week, today was all about getting hands-on with the Cat 9, building confidence and practical skills with another one of our appliances.
