Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2026 — 50 Years of Deadly

This week, Mission Australia teams across the Murrumbidgee were honored to observe, respect and take part in local community events recognising 50 Years of Deadly.

Our teams attended a range of events, including the Albury-Wodonga Flag Raising and Smoking Ceremony, Wagga March & Flag Raising, the RivMed community event, Basketball NSW 3x3 Deadly Gala Day, the Tumut Hospital Celebration, GAMS NAIDOC Family Fun Day 2026, and many other community celebrations across the region.

These events provided meaningful opportunities to listen, learn, connect and respectfully celebrate culture, community, strength, resilience and the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We extend our sincere thanks to Elders, community members, local organisations, councils, schools and committees who welcomed us into these important celebrations and continue to lead with strength, pride and generosity.

Foodbank returns this Thursday.

Foodbank NSW/ACT & Joblink Plus Fresh Produce Pop-up will be returning to Wagga Wagga this week to supply free food and vegetables to local people in need.
Take your reusable bags and fill them with fresh produce.

It was great to be part of the Gindaymanha Sports Carnival in Albury, supporting a day that brought young people together through sport, fun and community connection.

Our Albury team had a great time handing out popcorn and fairy-floss, and being part of such a positive local event. Thanks to everyone involved in making it a great day for local young people and families.
