Fire crews, including this CFS crew stationed at Generations in Jazz, are responding to a fire at Yahl.

At 12:11pm, crews were called to Hill Road at Yahl with reports of a burn-off burning out of control.

Thoughts are with all involved in the Deep Creek fire.
A large fire of this scale challenges all aspects CFS operations requiring military like planning.
There have been multiple requests state wide for deployments to this fire.
Yahl CFS currently have 2 members on the Deep Creek fire ground with others nominating for additional deployments this week.

After a long stint monitoring a burning haystack overnight started by a grass fire the day before training tonight was a clean of the trucks and check of equipment.
The clean truck was short lived with a call at 2:20am this morning to a forest fire which was handed over to OFO Plantations to continue black out at 4:30am.

Yesterday Yahl was called to a grass fire on the edge of Mount Gambier.
With a quick response from 5 x CFS appliances and a bulk water carrier, MFS and multiple air craft drops the fire spread which surrounded a house and outbuildings was contained to 1.5 hectares and a haystack and shed.
The haystack required overnight monitoring by Yahl and was extinguished this morning.
A total of 11 crew on 2 appliances from Yahl attended this fire.

A tiring day for the Yahl brigade and the entire Mount Gambier group yesterday.
A 3am call for a strike team to assist with a large fire at Coles saw a contingent of trucks and command car head to assist with fire brought under control relatively quickly.
Then at 2:30pm another call for a strike team to assist with fires at Natimuk in Victoria with crews returning home at 1:30am
A super effort by the brigade and Mt Gambier group yesterday.
Thoughts are with the communities of Natimuk and Quantong where several homes were lost.

Congratulations to Yahl CFS brigade senior firefighter Jackson Richards for being awarded the District Council Youth Citizen of the year for his dedicated work with the CFS, SES and CFS Youth Advisory Council.
Help us celebrate Jacko on this well deserved award!

Yahl called to a tree down this evening.
Nothing unusual except for the size.
Help of a local contractor with a loader was required for this one.

Fire season starts Friday midnight.

All please be aware of the pending fire season starting.
No fires this weekend onwards.

Please ensure any fire lit prior is extinguished by midnight on Friday.

We don’t want calls all weekend due to burn piles and people’s ignorance. We have better things to do.
