Limestone Coast Landscape Board

Limestone Coast Landscape Board The Limestone Coast Landscape Board and staff work with local landholders and community groups.

The Limestone Coast Landscape Board is responsible for landscape management across the Limestone Coast in South Australia. Our Board members are Limestone Coast locals, who make decisions about regional investment in landscape management, with a back to basics approach and communities at the centre. Board staff work with local landholders, community groups, local government and industry, on practi

cal, on ground projects. Our projects are based on four priorities: soil and land, water, pest plants and animals, and biodiversity. The Limestone Coast Landscape Board provides strategic leadership for our regions landscape management. We support all sectors of the community and all levels of government through administration of the Landscape South Australia Act 2019 .

Bad to the bone…

Boneseed (Chrysanthemoides monilifera) is an invasive w**d within native vegetation in our landscape. It is a large erect shrub that after disturbance such as fire, cultivation, or clearing thrives and can completely take over native habitats.

Seeds can also remain viable in the soil for over 10 years! However young plants won’t reproduce within the first year meaning early control is essential.

At this time of year, boneseed grows rapidly and new seedlings are emerging, making it an ideal period to begin control methods such as herbicide spraying. Another characteristic of this species is shallow roots, often growing in sandy soils, where manual removal can be easy and effective.

For more information on how to control this w**d please get in contact with your local Landscape Officer

The Limestone Coast Youth Environment Council (LCYEC) launched its 2026 program with an engaging forum focused on environmental land management and hands-on learning.

The group visited the Limestone Coast Landscape Board’s karst springs and alkaline fens restoration site, gaining insight into the early stages of the project and the importance of wetland ecosystems. Participants assisted in data collection by installing habitat cameras on site to monitor native and pest species that may be present within the area.

The LCYEC looks forward to continuing their learning journey in upcoming forums.
