This is the official page for the Limestone Coast Local Health Network. They were our first health care workers.

Limestone Coast Local Health Network acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout the region and Australia. We acknowledge their connections to land, sea, waters and community and acknowledge this land was never ceded and the ongoing impacts of colonisation. We recognise the history of First Nation Peoples vast knowledge in traditional holistic healing ways. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all First Nation peoples today.

🦎𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: At the Limestone Coast Local Health Network, our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan is the framework that guides us in influencing and supporting the national reconciliation movement.

It outlines four key pillars and areas of action for our network:
🫱🏾‍🫲🏾 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒔: Strengthening our capacity for the provision of culturally safe and responsive services to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
❤️ 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕: Demonstrating a high standard of cultural safety and competency. Creating a space for trust and engagement in service co-design.
🎓 𝑶𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔: Developing the capacity, skills and knowledge of our workforce to deliver best practice outcomes, where individuals are inspired by what they do.
⚖️ 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆: Ensuring reconciliation initiatives are guided, managed, and monitored. Promoting accountability and structured decision-making.

📜𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮
A special series of posters were unveiled at the Mount Gambier hospital on Thursday morning in the spirit of National Reconciliation Week.

Damien Shen, Executive Director of Aboriginal Health shared his reflection about the mission where his mother was born and the importance of telling the stories of our Nation’s past.

Damien is a proud Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna, and Chinese man, who is passionate about improving the physical, social and emotional health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people. He is also an accomplished - and very talented – artist and storyteller.

The posters were part of a special project by Nunkuwarrin Yunti. They outline the history of South Australian missions and feature the family names of the Aboriginal people who lived there. Damien worked on this project many years ago.

There are many other places in South Australia where these posters are displayed, providing a platform for truth-telling, and of the profound and tragic of loss of culture and connection that many Aboriginal experienced during that time in our history.

👣 We hope these posters will help more Aboriginal people in our community to piece together their family history, and that they encourage conversations about culture, resilience, and ways we can continue to walk together towards reconciliation.

Daniela Garrido Werner, 𝘓𝘦𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘢 𝘞𝘢𝘳 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭, recently presented at the 12th Asian Conference on Ageing & Gerontology (AGen2026).

Daniela shared her proposed research project focused on person-centred leisure interventions in aged care, highlighting the innovative approaches supporting wellbeing and quality of life across LCLHN services 💙

The conference brought together delegates from 68 countries, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore global approaches to ageing and aged care.

Yesterday, we were pleased to take part in an event that has become a much-loved date on our calendar. Co-hosted with Pangula Mannamurna Aboriginal Corporation the 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 is an opportunity for people to come together, to share stories and for our staff to connect with community to listen, learn and grow.

A fresh and tasty BBQ was prepared by the Lions Club Mount Gambier, and served by our graduate nurses/midwives, Aboriginal Health trainee and allied health graduate.

🤝 We are thankful to have been able to sit down with community over a shared lunch and yarn.

The 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌 theme for 2026 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝑰𝒏 reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. It calls on all of us-to listen, to learn and to actively contribute to meaningful and lasting change. To achieve this we need to listen, learn and connect.

💙 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

We are proud to announce 𝗔𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 as the inaugural recipient of the 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, presented on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

Developed in partnership with Ryan’s family, the scholarship reflects their strong advocacy for improving 𝗶𝗻𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 across regional South Australia. It represents a shared commitment to compassionate, person centred and consumer directed care for patients and families.

We received six strong applications from across our Local Health Network and thank all applicants for their dedication to learning, excellence and improving care experiences.

👏 👏 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁, 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘕𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 at Mount Gambier and District Health Service. Adriana was selected for her outstanding application and strong alignment with the scholarship’s values. Her personal and professional experience in end of life care continues to shape her compassionate approach to nursing.

This scholarship shows what’s possible when health services and community work together with a shared purpose - to strengthen care, support families, and continue improving palliative and end of life services. It will support clinicians who are committed to walking alongside families and delivering the best possible care during life’s most difficult moments.

We acknowledge and thank Deb and Chris Brooks for their continued advocacy in Ryan’s memory. 💙
