Mayor Rigo applauds frontline workers at Public service Information Day

Chactemal Plaza was abuzz on Thursday, May 28 as special display booths were on display, highlighting the work of various public service departments, as part of this year's Public Service Week celebration.

While the booths help the public and especially students, learn about the work that is carried out in our communities, Mayor Rigo Vellos took the opportunity during his welcome address, to applaud and laud the frontline workers who risk their lives day in and day out to keep us safe, healthy, and alive.

Also present were Deputy Mayor Marleni Tapia and Councillors

The celebration of public service will continue with community outreach activities, national health walk, an award and entertainment week and appreciation day.

On behalf of Mayor Rigo Vellos, the Corozal Town Council, and the entire community of Corozal, we extend our deepest condolences to the Marin & Sawers family.
We mourn the passing of Mrs. Daisy Olga Marin Sawers, a legendary figure whose lifelong service and leadership left an indelible mark on our town. As one of Corozal’s first female mayors and a dedicated member of numerous organizations, including the Hospital Auxiliary Group, her legacy of hard work, compassion, and commitment to uplifting others will never be forgotten.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.

In service to the community - Mayor Rigo Vellos & Councillors lead the way!

Motivated by their commitment to the residents of Corozal Town, Mayor Rigo Vellos, Deputy Mayoress Marleni Tapia and Councillors carry out special initiatives and community work to improve the town.

It doesn't matter which day of the week it is, the Mayor and Councillors are ready to work. They are joined by the Marshalls District Rep. Mr. Josue Perez, and other members of the community.

This past Saturday, the team worked on the Victoriano Gongora Park in the Altamira Area to transform a newly installed play set with bright colours. The playset will have swings installed this week to make it fully operational for the children of the area.

This is just one initiative done to improve our town. Streets are paved. Drains are maintained. Traffic signs upgraded. Parks and public spaced cleaned up. Just some of the many things done by the Council for the people.

MAYOR RIGO VELLOS & CTC PAVE SAPODILLA STREET!

This morning, residents of Sapodilla Street witnessed the commitment and dedication of Mayor Rigo Vellos towards progress for our town, when they saw him with a shovel in his hands, helping to pave their street, even under the hot sun.

The Corozal Town Council carried out the paving of Sapodilla Street, between Belmopan Street and Olga Marin Drive, to support an improved quality of life for town residents.

The street will help to support improved connectivity for drivers and pedestrians.

The Council advises drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution in the area, including after the paving works due to loose gravel.

The Council thanks residents for their understanding as the work continues.

ROAD PAVING NOTICE - Sapodilla Street first section

The General Public is advised that Sapodilla Street (between Belmopan Street & Olga Marin Drive) will be closed between 3:00AM and 2:00PM on Friday, May 22 in order for the Corozal Town Council to carry out the first-coat PAVING.

Access to this street section will be interrupted during the period of work.

The Council thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding as the Council works to improve the town’s infrastructure.

Top 4 teams clash in Semi-finals - Mayor Rigo Vellos/CTC 6-a-side⚽ two matches away from FINALS!

The semi-finals of the Mayor Rigo Vellos/CTC 6-a-side tournament comes up this Saturday May 23rd with the top four teams going to battle. These matches will see winners advance to the finals to compete for the $1,000 1st PRIZE!

CTC completes paving preparation of Sapodilla Street

The Corozal Town Council completed the paving preparation of a first section of Sapodilla Street for manual paving this week.

The work was done by Infrastructure Unit employees with the support of CTC heavy machinery.

Now the work shifts to paving of the street, with the aim of improving the quality of life for residents in the area.

During the preparation, the Council also installed a culvert to ensure flood alleviation for homes that would be negatively affected by extreme weather.

The Council advises that traffic access will continue to be affected as paving works are carried out.

The Council proudly continues to transform our town, with new infrastructure projects which are improving the quality of life for our residents!
